I don’t expect a star but a 24 year old fast skating playmaker at 3.4 is fine for the price. If he fails, they can let him go as an RFA or try to trade him at seasons end. He’s the right age and has a decent track record for 2nd/3rd line scoring. He might be a flop, it’s perfectly possible, but the cost was almost nothing outside of cap and it isn’t a huge cap hit.
More like a single than a home run, but sometimes you need to take chances when you don’t have any prospects you expect to make the jump outside of one guy.
Exactly. A nice young 50P guy signed for a year. If he works out great and if not oh well. GMs need to take a gamble once in awhile and safe ones are not worth getting upset about.
