Wasn’t sure anybody still came here lol. Hoping Dubas continues down the path of building our thin system. This team IS NOT a contender. Just a gut feel, but I could easily see EK heading to OTT at some point in the next week.

I stumbled upon this site while digging through some old tech blogs last winter. I was pretty skeptical at first, but the interface for EthAMG 2.6 https://ethamg2.org/ really surprised me with how intuitive it felt. Being based here in Canada, it’s refreshing to find tools that actually handle local market conditions well. My portfolio has been looking much healthier since I started testing their automated tools for my daily assets.

I don’t think we would use a first, but perhaps we would use a 2026 2nd and a player?

I hope we don’t go after an rfa with 2026 picks. Would rather attempt to win the lottery. With how much the cap is rising offer sheets are way too costly. A 1st will be required for any decent prospect. Give it 5 more years and 3rd liners will be getting 7m aav contracts

The penguins have a bunch of tradable assets than can accomplish a couple different things. One, is the often talked about ‘move up’ in the draft. If we are targeting a pick between 3-7, this would require one (or both) of our first round picks, reducing our asset pool quickly for 1 person. We could also pair a first rounder up with a player like Rakell or Rust, but either way, it is eliminating two of our assets for THIS year.

The second goal that is publicly known of Dubas is to secure a young RFA. This can obviously be done AFTER the draft, opening up a new pool of assets, i.e. next years draft picks. I think the timing on one of these trades will give an idea on what is being traded and for what. Because of this, I could see a rust/rakell trade after the start of free agency whereas a trade moving up will hopefully just be based on picks.

It makes sense if you don’t think about it… but this logic was similar to my logic regarding the rangers pick. I mentioned this a month or so ago that, to me, it made the most sense for them to send us this pick simply because they can use the 2026 pick as a trade chip and still attach a protection on it. The RFA’s on the market right now are going to be RFA’s next week, for the most part. So, we can use time sensitive assets accordingly (2025 draft picks this weekend), to time ourselves to have assets next week.
