It’s official. On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced a new head coach and two assistant coaches for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. As expected, the Flyers named John Snowden as the new head coach and Terrance Wallin as one of his assistants. Additionally, the Flyers announced that Nick Schultz has switched roles from a development coach to Phantoms assistant.
Schultz, 42, replaces former Flyers captain Jason Smith as a Lehigh Valley assistant coach under Ian Laperriere. Smith, 51, served four years in that capacity after four years as a Western Hockey league head and assistant coach. Laperriere, 51, was named a Flyers management advisor after he was not retained as Phantoms head coach.
The Phantoms will hold a press conference on Wednesday to formally introduce Snowden as the new bench boss.
