The National Hockey League will release its full 2025-26 regular season schedule later today. We will link to schedule when it’s posted. Anthony Mingioni will have a breakdown and focal games for the Flyers tomorrow on Hockey Hot Stove. Meanwhile, the Flyers’ Brian Smith will have his take on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
John LeClair on Flyers Development Camp Experience
Flyers and USA Hockey Hall of Famer John LeClair was the special guest of hosts Riley Cote and Derek Settlemyre on the latest edition of the Nasty Knuckles podcast. Nowadays a full-time advisor to the team’s Hockey Operations department, LeClair recently served as one of the instructors at the Flyers Development Camp in Voorhees.
LeClair talks primarily about this year’s camp and his observations, including which players he believes stood out the most. He also talks about former Flyers teammate Rick Tocchet and what he thinks “Tocc” will bring as a head coach in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the hosts ask LeClair about his infamous toe-curve sticks from his playing days. LeClair’s segment runs from the 28:37 mark until the end of the 45-minute show.
A couple of personal notes: Back when the Flyers Archives was on-site at Wells Fargo Center tucked away on a half-floor at the mechanical level, I used to stop in frequently to do research on team history-related projects. In a back room, they had a collection of old equipment including one of LeClair’s sticks. One day, with archivist Brian McBride’s permission, I couldn’t help but pick up and examine the LeClair stick up close. Only someone as freakishly strong as Big John could use that thing for anything more than a shovel. How he manage to stickhandle with that warped-looking blade was a marvel.
Alumni Golf Trip: You’re Invited (but Hurry!)
During the first week in August, LeClair will be one of the Flyers Alumni coming along on the Alumni’s trip to Ireland. I will also be coming along, too, not to golf but to keep a daily tour journal for the Alumni’s official website. To say I’m excited is an understatement. Other attending Alumni include Mark Recchi, Bernie Parent, Bill Clement, Joe Watson, Orest Kindrachuk, Tom Bladon, Ed Hospodar, Lindsay Carson and Steve Coates.
The trip is open for fans to attend, but there’s limited space and very limited time left to register. Although the trip is primarily a golfing vacation on several of Ireland’s most famous courses, there’s also a sightseeing and group get together element with a lower registration fee for those who are not golfing. Every Child Deserves a Bike
It’s been a very busy week for the Alumni Association members in general. In addition to the Community Caravan event in Ocean City, the Alumni have made two side trips this week for adaptive bicycle presentations as part of the Every Child Deserves a Bike (ECDAB) program: three-year-old Sidney and 12-year-old Tommy.
It is Flyers fan and sponsor support of fundraising events such Walk/Run/Ride, the Alumni Golf tournament, Fantasy Camp, and the Ireland trip that make programs such as ECDAB, the Twelve Days of Christmas giving and the new Alumni Helping Alumni possible financially.
Flyers Daily: July 16, 2025
Jason Myrtetus underwent his final radiation treatment on Monday. Here’s hoping for the news we all want to here when he undergoes his scans in a couple months: cancer free and it’s time to ring the bell.
Meawhile, with Jason resting from the radiation treatment, Brian Smith pinch-hit for Jason in recording the July 16th edition of Flyers Daily. Whenever Jason has needed a sub, Smitty always steps up immediately. In today’s 20-minute edition, the main segment features an interview with 2025 first-round pick Jack Nesbitt.
