A two-time member of the Rangers is heading overseas. Jimmy Vesey, who played for the Blueshirts from 2016-2019 and 2022-25, signed a two-year contract with Geneve-Servette HC of Switzerland’s National League on Monday. Vesey didn’t generate much interest in free agency, so he will take his talents to Switzerland.
A third round pick, 66th overall, by Nashville in 2012, Vesey opted not to sign with the Predators out of Harvard, becoming a free agent after he won the Hobey Baker Award as College Hockey’s best player in 2015-16. Many teams wooed Vesey, who inked a contract with the Rangers. Vesey notched 50 goals and 40 assists in 240 games over three seasons before heading to Buffalo.
Vesey spent 2019-20 with the Sabres, playing 64 games, then became a nomad. He dressed for 30 games with Toronto and 20 games with Vancouver the following season before becoming a free agent again. Vesey transitioned into a solid bottom-six player, skating 68 contests with New Jersey in 2021-22.
The Blueshirts signed Vesey to a PTO and he parlayed that deal into a one-year contract with New York for 2022-23. He bounced up and down the lineup, playing 81 games, earning a two-year contract. Vesey was a key member of the President’s Trophy winning 2023-24 squad, skating in 80 regular season and 12 playoff contests.
Vesey saw his ice time and game action cut substantially in 2024-25, skating in just 33 contests while serving as a healthy scratch often for the Blueshirts. He was dealt along with Ryan Lindgren to Colorado at the trade deadline, dressing in just 10 regular season games while seeing no playoff action. Vesey should see significantly more ice time in Switzerland.

Am I in the right place?
You are, you are
I always liked Vesey in the bottom six, even if he was a little miscast there. Smart player, bigger body. Those metrics show his defensive game really improved over time. Just a tough world for these types of guys nowadays.
I thought he might get a PTO
Oh, hey guys.
Jan, is this a permanent move?
At least he signed with my Swiss team… Company has an office in Geneva and have been to a few of their games. They let a hawk fly around the arena as part of their game intro
So this is our new home, works for me 🙂 The new HockeyBuzz looks like a hot mess
We are so back
Meanwhile, Kravstov is returning to the NHL with the Canucks (one year, two way contract).
That contract is 2 way. Wonder if he realizes it means he can easily go down to the AHL… You know, the thing he didn’t want to do in the past
Culpability existed on both sides
I’m Back!!!
Off Hockey Buzz for 3 years because they couldn’t reset my password – crazy
