Flyers veterans Travis Sanheim and Travis Konecny played for Team Canada last year in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. As such, the two figured to have a good shot at representing their national team again for the 2026 Olympics. A few days ago, the “Travii” moved one step closer to achieving that goal. Both Konecny and Sanheim received invitations to attend Hockey Canada’s Olympic Orientation Camp on August 26-28. The full list of NHL invitees follows.

Flyers JCC wrapup: Berglund stars
Among the seven Flyers prospects who participated in the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase, none had a bigger showing than 2024 second-round pick Jack Berglund. Over on the Flyers’ officlal website, I discussed Berglund’s standout tournament. The player was already a near-lock for a Team Sweden roster spot at the 2025 World Junior Championship. However, Berglund likely erased any shred of doubt with the way he excelled on both sides of the puck at the WJSS.
The Summer Showcase is just an exhibition series. However, the games are played to win and Berglund matched up favorably against every team he faced during their five games.
Alumni Ireland trip journal
The Flyers Alumni are in Ireland for two more days before returning home. Each day on the trip, I write journal entries on the Flyers Alumni’s official website. Today’s Flyers blog on HHS is probably the last one I’ll have time enough to write before departing back to the United States on Thursday. However, the journal itself is fun to write and I’m having a great time each and every day. I hope the journal conveys what a once-in-a-lifetime trip this truly is.
I have a new nickname for Dan Maggiani, who is the presenting sponsor of a host of Flyers Alumni fundraising evens. Dan is also an owner in HHS’ content sponsor, Cover All Exteriors. Joe Watson jokingly calls him “Dollar Dan”. However, the other night at a pub outing in Dublin and then back at the hotel, Maggiani revealed he has an affinity for playing the harmonica. He broke into the intro part of Piano Man and got everyone singing along. Thus, from now on, “Dollar Dan” Maggiani is rechristened “Dan the Piano Man”.
Flyers Daily: ICYMI
On Sunday, Jason Myrtetus and I coordinated a time window — Jason in Philly and me in Ireland — to record this week’s Mondays with Meltzer episode of Flyers Daily. Among other topics, we look at the Vegas over/under points total, expectations for Matvei Michkov in year two and much more.
