The New Jersey chapter of Hockey Players in Business will hold a golf fundraiser on October 13 for the New Jersey Warriors veterans hockey program. The event is at Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club in Readington, NJ.
As with Warriors Hockey programs across the United States, the NJ Warriors program is open to military veterans with VA-certified disabilities of at least 10 percent. Most Warrior Hockey participants are ambulatory. However, the range of physical, emotional and/or behavioral disabilities vary widely. The NJ Warriors are the official Warrior hockey program affiliation of the New Jersey Devils organization. However, the program itself is an independently managed not-for-profit 501c3 organization run by internal volunteers. Warrior Hockey programs rely on donors, fundraising events and sponsors to remain operational.
Fundraising events such as the Hockey Players in Business golf event are used for Warrior team travel, national tournament fees, and most importantly, to defray the cost of ice time at local rinks. The program’s home base at the Prudential Center complex in Newark.
The Stanton Ridge event also includes breakfast, lunch, an open bar, auctions, raffles and prizes. The participation cost is $250 for single golfer registration or $1,000 for a foursome. Registration closes on October 5.
