The Chicago Blackhawks dropped a 3-2 decision to the Florida Panthers on opening night. The final score was close. However, the game play wasn’t.

I think Knight was great last night

I saw that stat line and i find it incredible that the possession metrics favored the opposing line when Bedard was on the ice, yet Bedard had 3 excellent chances of scoring.

If the 2nd line continues to be a threat to keep scoring this is excellent news for Bedard and whoever is paired with him.

I was really expecting to see much more space on the ice for Florida but that wasn’t the case which for me is very optimistic.

I think the Hawks should put Donato back with Bedard. Wasn’t impressed with his wingers.

Exactly… I’m not sure why Blashill made that decision in the first game. He needs to show a bit more patience, especially this early in the season.

Minor thing in the write up, the Panthers goal scorer was Jesper Boqvist and not his little brother Adam. Adam was with the Panthers last year but he was a waiver pick up by the Islanders.

Thanks for catching that — I usually double-check everything, but this one slipped by me. Appreciate you pointing it out!
