One of the many outstanding things left for the PWHL to release prior to the start of the third season of the league is official team names and branding for the expansion teams in Seattle & Vancouver.
The wait is over, as the team is now officially known as the Seattle Torrent.
PWHL Seattle announced last Friday that the PWHL expansion team “will make a significant announcement in advance of the team’s inaugural season” on Thursday, November 6th. The public received a head start on that announcement on Tuesday as some official team website pages appeared to show new branding: The Seattle Torrent. Those pages updated soon thereafter to only show the temporary PWHL Seattle logo, indicating an error likely took place in pushing those page updates live early.
The Seattle Torrent logo consists of waves in the shape of an “S” for Seattle and the word “Torrent” in block letters across the middle.
When jerseys were revealed for Seattle on October 21st, it was made clear that while the inaugural season jerseys represent city name branding, similar to year one of the original six PWHL teams across the league, team names and branding for both new teams would be launched ahead of the season. It remains to be seen whether the league will incorporate the team names and branding into the jersey through a patch or some other means. However, merchandise with the new team branding is already available to fans.
A similar announcement for the other expansion team in Vancouver also took place today, presenting the Vancouver Goldeneyes branding. Puck drop on the 2025-26 PWHL Season for the two new teams is November 21st, when the Seattle Torrent visits the Vancouver Goldeneyes.
