innipeg Jets blanked the Dallas Stars, 4-0, at Canada Life Centre on Thursday evening. Scott Arniel’s team reduced the Stars’ lead in their Western Conference Semifinal series to three games to two. The series will return to Dallas for Game Six on Saturday.
On Thursday, Connor Hellebuyck (22 saves) recorded his second shutout of the series. Set up by Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele’s fourth goal of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs broke a scoreless tie at 6:17 of the second period. The Jets maintained their one-goal lead into the third period.
In the final frame, NIkolaj Ehlers sandwiched power play and empty net tallies around a Vladislav Namestnikov power play goal to wrap up the four-goal win. The Jets went 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Stars were 0-for-4.
Jake Oettinger stopped 31 of 34 shots in a losing cause. Plain and simple, Winnipeg was the better team all night. The Jets held the Stars to a mere nine shots through the game’s first 40 minutes (11-4 and 11-5) and then pulled away in the third period.
Calling cards for Game Six
Predictably, things got testy in the latter part of the third period. Equally predictable: Stars captain Jamie Benn was in the center off the hostilities. Benn popped Schefeile with a gloves-on left in a skirmish near the Dallas bench. Benn and Brandon Tanev collected matching roughing minors and 10-minute misconducts. Scheifele also received a roughing minor. The Stars got a power play but failed to make headway on the scoreboard.
After the final buzzer, Jason Robertson and Haydn Fleury exchanged crosschecks among much hullabaloo that didn’t amount to much more than calling cards for Game Six.
Now, it comes down to this question: Can the Stars extend the Jets’ road misery for one more game? The Jets are 0-5 on the road in these playoffs. The Stars are 5-1.
