Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers (14-8-3) will host Lindy Ruff’s Buffalo Sabres (11-11-4) on Wednesday evening. This is the second game of a six-game homestand for the Flyers. The Flyers have posted an 8-4-2 record at home to date. Meanwhile, the Sabres open a six-game road trip.
Tocchet’s club sustained a costly 5-1 home loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. Tyson Foerster suffered an upper-body injury on his next shift. He will miss two to three months. On Tuesday, the Flyers recalled veteran forward Carl Grundstrom from the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Monday’s loss snapped the Flyers’ three-game winning streak. The Sabres have won back-to-back games: 3-2 over the Minnesota Wild and 5-1 against the Winnipeg Jets.
