ParticipantNo needle moving trades today. Playoff Risto is dead. Did DB overvalue him or just didn’t want to trade him? The Flyers media wouldn’t shut up about how in demand he was. He will finish out his contract with the Flyers never having seen the playoffs in his career but at least he can watch Buffalo in the playoffs.
Jiri is one of the worst skaters in professional hockey who doesn’t seem to have a lot of hockey sense. Thank god he is 6′ 200lbs and a RH. He was born to be a Flyer. He doesn’t have a lot else going for him right now. Let’s hope they can coach him up.
Congrats to Brink and ND for getting out of this never ending cycle of mediocrity.

The letter to STH just keeps looking more and more like a clown show every day.

Multiple reports indicated Philly was looking for the same return the Bruins received from the Maple Leafs for Brandon Carlo at last year’s deadline. That package included a first-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and an A/B-tier prospect in Fraser Minten.
Could that trade have aged any worse for the Leafs or any better for the Bruins? That trade is part of the reason the Bruins are going to the playoffs with the Leafs likely Top 10 draft pick while the leafs are in the lottery without a 1st. All of Treliving’s trade deadline trades from last year have aged poorly enough that most GMs would be fired. It’s like looking at Chuck Fletcher’s trades and thinking they were the gold standard.
The Scott Laughton trade was just as bad, a year later they shipped out “The Room” and his 4th line 12 pts for a conditional 3rd.

Dip shit danny wanted to keep him as he 100% believes he is a core player.
“Where do you find a 6’4″ physical, top 4 right shot defenseman?” Briere continued in his defense of not shipping Ristolainen out of town. “There’s not a lot. And we saw on the market when that came out we did get a lot of calls. And we took him seriously, we went through all the teams that were serious. But at the of the day it just did not make sense value-wise. There’s nothing that made more sense to trade him for what he brings. Risto’s an important leader in our room. I can promise you that our guys prefer having him on our side than playing against him. He’s the type of defenseman that brings guys to the fight because he runs around, he hits guys, and he pisses off the opponents. There’s a lot of value to that. And at the end of the day it just made more sense. We listened but it made more sense to have Risto with us.”

Participantalways about size skill rarly ever gets mentioned. Where does this put Hunter Mac lol
“That kind of came in yesterday,” Briere said. “We started thinking of the chance to add a big young, strong defenseman like David. We felt that was a good opportunity for us to look towards the future, add hopefully another big piece down the road to our D corps. Adding the size and we’ve talked about that — you guys have asked me the questions about the smallish defensemen before — and I get it too, it’s reality. That was we felt a good swing to take on a promising young defenseman. So that was the reason behind the Bobby Brink trade.

The Flyers have really been size queens over the last year. They are looking for a man over 6′ period, everything else is secondary. That does explaining giving a 30 yr old 3rd line center a 5 year contract w/full NTC. Can’t let those 6′ guys go no matter what.
Even the AHL trade, they traded 2 players under 6′ for 2 players over 6′.
Could the Flyers be any more thirsty.

Seems like the Flyers totally screwed up with Pelletier. Not that he was ever going to be a great NHLer but for league minimum to lead the AHL team and to have available for callup it was a missed opportunity.

not going to get on them for letting him walk. didn’t they have to qualify him which was much more than league min?
just find it funny he was on waivers then month later key to a flyers trade

$840k vs the $775k that Tampa is paying him. Not really much of a difference but even Tampa waived him again at the beginning of the season. Good for him for having a good year in the AHL.
