      Greetings old friends:

Forgive me for posting this here, but for some reason I get logged out every time I visit the Leafs’ forum.

Today the Ontario government announced they would be introducing legislation to essentially ban scalping:

This is the final nail in the coffin for my season tickets – a run of about 30 years. I phoned MLSE this morning and informed them I would not be renewing.

Sadly, it’s just not worth it anymore.

Since COVID, reselling tickets for weeknight games was at a loss. For weekend games, you could maybe get 10% – 20% profit, but not always.

And playoff prices became so ludicrously expensive, I didn’t want to go to them. It just wasn’t worth it to spend $1,000 total for a 1st round game, just to watch them lose. I’d much rather go to a bar and watch the game with friends. Still a group atmosphere, but $900 cheaper.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in the years ahead.

P.S. When I phoned MLSE this morning, “They were experiencing a higher call volume than normal.”

P.P.S. MLSE’s customer service department has a 514 area code.
