ParticipantTuesday truly was fight night at the Garden. The Rangers’ 4-1 win over the Devils was secondary by far to the Igor Shesterkin-Jacob Markstrom bout.

ParticipantMy post from yesterday disappeared. Ill try to make it quick. The last month doesnt hold much weight for me. Team was out of the playoffs and played .500 hockey against all non playoff teams aside from the win against the wild. Most first lines have at least 1 PPG player, at this point the Rangers do not. Im not sure what Trachecks value is but he isnt going to get a PPG player for us, nobody on the FA market to sign and we dont have the assets to trade for a PPG player. This team will go forward with basically 2 second lines and a 3rd and 4th.

Honestly, I dont care anymore. All I care about is that we get a top 5 pick, we dont blow our load, pick the BPA and we manage the off-season/free agency the right way. Thats it, thats all I want. I dont want us chasing and overpaying any players in a trade. I also dont see any benefit to trading Trocheck in the off-season.
If the team ends up last in the East again next year… to quote the infamous Lt. Col. Frank Slade, Dolan needs to take a flamethrower to the entire organization and get rid of JT Miller. If he doesnt waive his NMC, buy him out, I dont care, get him off this team.

There is no FA that will come in and put us over the top so Id stay away from all of these upcoming FA. I love Trocheck, he is a playoff guy and good leader but this team didnt make the playoffs with him, trade him and get whatever assets you can get for a soon to be 33yo 50 pt guy. Keep rolling with the younger players, like last night when Sully didnt start to play them until the third and look what happened, they came back. Re-aquiring Miller was a mistake even if it meant getting rid of Chytil. We took his Cap hit for 5 years at 8 mil per. Watching Sheary on the PP just makes me laugh at how pathetic Sully is, this guy wasnt even in the NHL last season.

ParticipantIf they don’t get a top 2 pick (McKenna or stenberg) that means they end up with one of the defensemen, which is fine. But drury should absolutely then try to trade up into the top 10 to also add one of the centers (Lawrence, malholtra, Bjorck)
A late 1st round pick without a potential franchise forward like stenberg or McKenna doesn’t do enough

Sheary on PP2 last night made me so fucking angry!!! Even before the miss. The 1st time he was out there and Laba wasn’t!!! Give me Kartye before 43. Christ Sullivan, enough!!
As for Trocheck, at this point id like to see him stay. At least until the trade deadline again. That’s where we have the most chance of an overpay. And in the meantime, he’s a guy I don’t mind the kids learning from.
We aren’t in the position to need a PPG player yet. Which, btw, Mika is. He’s 4 points of that pace right now. Given all the shit that’s gone on around here this season, I’ll grant him that grace. -

Trying to move up to get another top 10 pick, using the Canes pick, would be an extremely expensive endeavor in this draft.

A) I don’t think there’s a realistic price too high outside of perreault for adding a top 10 D and Center in this draft. Especially for this organization
B) There are teams that definitely want/need to be in the playoffs next year hovering around that #10 spot that would definitely take a roster player like trocheck in a deal for their pick. FLA, SEA, WPG, LAK. His no trade list becomes even smaller after this season ends. Also players like Schneider and Cuylle should be on the table for the right moveWith all of that being said. Let’s just pray we end up with Mckenna or Stenberg and then we don’t even need to worry about this

True but he has to want to waive. His wife had said last year, they arent moving. It was bad enough getting stuck with him for 4 more years, now we have Captain Chaos for another 4 freaking years too.

To be fair, I dont consider us “stuck” with Trocheck. Its a pleasure to have him on this team. However, his NTC goes from 12 to 10 teams. Maybe that was part of the play also to not trade him at the deadline. Will those 2 additional teams actually matter, probably not. He is who is he, he will give you 50+ points, hes fantastic at faceoffs, solid leader and he will be cost controlled for a team that may potentially be stuck against the cap ceiling for 3 more years. Were certainly not stuck with him, many teams will be kicking tires on his services, its just a matter of whats being offered because Drury has made it clear that he doesnt just want picks and a project prospect.

Zib, 18GP – 9G 10A 19PTSSure, you can argue the competition of play since March hasnt been the best of the best but theres definitely something flowing there.
However, we do need another line that is producing to this level.

There is absolutely zero chance any of those teams trade a top 10 pick for Trocheck, ESPECIALLY not Florida. Florida has negative cap space and no depth at LD, so the potential to draft Smits or Carels, if anything I could see Florida trying to move up to draft one of them. That ELC protection for them is worth more than trading for Trocheck. SEA isnt a Trocheck away from being a cup contender so that would be silly on their part.
The best chance the Rangers have of maybe moving up is packaging Schneider and the Carolina 1st… but Im not sure how far up the draft that will get them, maybe to around 15.

We are stuck, this team is nowhere near a playoff team let alone a Cup Contender. After saying he was getting traded, you have to trade him now.

How can you say we havent played any good teams and think there is something going on? This team is playing with no stress or expectations. How many times were they out shot and our goalies saved us? There is nothing going on here for next year. Mika duplicating this season next year is a bit of a stretch and Miller will have to be 100 percent better just to make the playoffs. No grind. Like you said fools gold.

The team, yes, its very stuck. Every time I try to make an ACGM, the “puzzle pieces” are all weird as far as trying to make a combination of lines that make sense. Since you have to think that the likelihood of Trocheck being gone is there. Then you have to make a line with Miller that never looks good. The bottom 6, however, Im optimistic about and its easier to make something up with Chmelar, Sykora, Laba, Kartye. Then you get to the defense, and outside of Gavrikov/Fox, you’re kind of left scratching your head.
As far as having to trade Trocheck, how often has Drury done things that make sense?
Goes back to my thoughts of if we miss out on the top 2 picks in the draft, is there a world were it makes sense to trade back to acquire more picks and really go ham on rebuilding the prospect pool.

Ah, it was pickle that suggested that Cuylle should be available for the right price. I personally would never want to trade a 20 goal scorer who is always leading the league in hits. I feel like theres a bit more offense in that stick once this team gets their crap together.
The one thing that worries me the most is Drury is going to overpay for Boeser to come to NY to reunite with his buddy JT.

ParticipantSo torn about how Id want to Rangers to use their pick if they miss out on 1 or 2 because there seems to be so many solid options/prospects to draft from this year that maybe a quantity approach could be a good option too. For example, we could draft Verhoeff or Reid… or…
We can trade back, as well as try a series of trades to move up and down, to end up with Lawrence or Malhotra, Rudolph and Novotny.

Its all hypothetical at this point. No one knows where anyone is picking. Do you think anyone in their right mind would trade a top 5 pick for a 33yo and a later 1st rounder? What would it take to move up from say we have the 10th pick to pick 7th?
Im pretty sure not one team would trade a top 5 pick for anyone less than a top 6 player. Its a cost controlled player for the next 6 years. Every team needs a player like that.

Spence, I believe can sign at any time. Lamb has been a slow burn for the Rangers, hes been with the organization for what seems like forever but he put up a solid year in college. Laba nobody saw coming. Ive said before, Chmelar reminds me so much of Julien Gauthier… good size, speed, hands… however unlike Gauthier who had the tools to be a solid mid-6 winger, hes actually able to finish. I remember when Sykora was drafted, in his interview he said he wanted to mold his game after Brad Marchand, so Ive always been curious to see him eventually get a chance.

All of these guys have overtaken the Edstroms Raddyshs and rempes. This is a 4th line if it stays in tact could be really good vs other teams 4th lines, like being a real advantage I mean
If Aspinalls game can translate into the NHL that could be a massive boost too. Obviously Greentree is almost a must, he has to be good for the sanity of the fans. He’s got some pressure on him
And I know I’ll get heat for this, but I’d re-sign Sheary. Cheap obviously. 13th F. To me he brings alot to them and is worth a roster spot over say JBrod. They need to keep these kids here so they are the odd men out

It’s clear that he’s a leader and with all the changes the last two years the last thing they need to do is trade more leaders. I think Drury finally sees that too. They look to be finally settled into a cohesive team again. Without the drama around. Just look at Shestys record and you can tell they have the pieces to be good next year, so trading centers isn’t the best idea. Since we don’t have anyone to replace him. They need two wingers to establish themselves and probably a LHD. That’s when they can be serious contenders again. Who they are will be the million dollar question
I’m sure Brukie will put cold water on all this but it what it is 🤷🏻♂️

There you go again, you are thinking, please dont do anything that might hurt yourself or that you are under qualified to do.
Please tell me why think Drury thinks Trocheck is a true leader on this team. Where did you hear this? Interview, memo? Horses ass?
They are playing out a string of games that mean nothing, they got a youthful injection of adrenaline and are riding it out, no pressure, nothing. They started to win after the Panarin trade, so you want to put this on him? He was the best regular season player on this team and put up more points than all the rookies combined.
This end of season push has been against all but 2 non playoff teams, maybe that is why they are above .500 but against playoff bound teams, they suck, even before Igor and Fox got hurt.
Go ahead little boy, continue to watch the show because next year, you will be crying again.

Exactly, stupid you, Bugs Bunny gets you excited. Next year, when this team misses the playoffs again, you will be excited for another top 5 pick. Fool.
i mean we asked for youth and we got some. You pedophilia supporters crave that shit

Why does everything have to come at the cost of youth and draft picks though? Dorofeyev might be the only player in the off-season I would target because he can play on either wing, however, only at the right cost.
IMO… until they show consistent scoring together in a full season to be a 1st line, 94-93-13, are a good second line. We dont have another line that we can depend on.
Sykora, Laba, Chmelar they are solid together, good progress there, something to look forward to next season.
This is why you are such a fing moron. Aside from Perrault, what has the others done in the 8 minutes a game they have played? Aside from Perrault, these guys are bottom 6 players. Oh boy, the 28th place Rangers won a few games that mean nothing. Idiot.
Come on man, they may be bottom 6 players but I dont agree with this take. They may have found something there. Thats 3 less positions that the genius doesnt have to over pay to fill. A cohesive bottom six is very important to playoff teams. These kids are playing well, and theyre playing for each other, which I cant say has been the case for some of the rest of the team.

ParticipantI think they get Boeser I told you. Dorofeyev seems like Vegas will fit him in. Boeser won’t cost much at all, except cap space which we have
And I meant wingers as in pipeline, ie Greentree. That would be amazing if he turned into Cutter Gauthier for instance
I could get down with this (maybe by the TDL, with Greentree- like when Perrault came up)
Laf Mik Perrault
Cuylle Miller Boeser
Kartye Trocheck Greentree
Sykora Laba Chmelar
13th F- ShearyThen you never know, maybe we end up with McKenna or Stenburg. Luck be a Ranger tonight 🤞

My problem is we have prospects within the organization that could bloom, particularly Greentree. The last thing I want to do is block his ability to get in the line up with a 31 year old winger with a full NMC and 6 years left on his deal, who only once has scored more than 56 points. I dont care that the best season of his career was playing with Miller, it was 3 years ago playing for a different team with a different coach.
In 2 years, Miller’s contract becomes a 15 team no trade and we need to get out from under it ASAP.

On another note, I dont know whats better for the Rangers in the long term. If we end up at 3 or 4, do we draft Fox’s protection in Verhoeff or Reid? If not, are we better off trading back a couple picks for Malhotra or Lawrence and acquiring more trade assets? Need to get this draft lottery thing over with so we can have a better picture.

I’m looking at it this way, Boeser wouldn’t cost much going out. That’s a plus. He plays both wings so it wouldn’t necessarily block anyone. It would move Kartye down most likely
Listen none of my ideas are ever popular and I’m ok with it. I stick to my guns. I’d prefer Dorofeyev trust me, just seems unlikelier as the days go by
You guys all need to realize that miller and Trocheck arent going anywhere. They just aren’t. Especially Miller. The last thing Drury would do, after the Trouba fiasco, is trade off ANOTHER captain. And it’s crazy that you guys would sign off on that after the two years of bellyaching for him doing this exact same thing. And Trouba sucked, and we’re still talking about it infecting the lockerrom. This place never ceases to amaze me. He isn’t that bad, he was hurt all season. He’s actually been better since the Olympics

Hes a failed captain to this point. It wasnt until the kids showed up and 94-93-13 started clicking when Miller was out of the lineup and they went 5-1, that Miller jumped on the bandwagon. They’ve been successful despite him not because of him.
You think the Trouba fiasco is going to stop him from trading Miller? Thats funny.
Boeser also wont be cheap. Secondly, Boeser apparently loves the city of Vancouver and has no intentions of leaving, nor do the Nucks management plan to press him about it unlike some GM’s in this league.

So let me get this straight, you want him to do the same thing he did with Trouba, knowing how that worked out, just because he’s had one bad season? When we all know he’s been hurt (groin, it’s been well documented)this season since camp. I can’t even deliver the mail with a bum groin, playing hockey? Cmon you’re better than this. Can we at least see if he has more bad seasons first?

After closing out the season like they have so far and being at risk of missing the playoffs, Darche definitely wanted to jump ahead of the coaching search and wasnt going to let DeBoer meet with anyone else in the offseason, nor was he going to close out the season going into that good night without fighting to make the playoffs. After making that trade for Schenn, he needed to do everything he could to make the playoffs otherwise it becomes a completely wasted trade.

Its true, but this draft on the surface looks pretty solid. Rangers have enough pieces where they can position themselves to potentially end up with three 1st round picks in the top 20.
Im ok rolling it back with the same squad next year and being trash again while the youth develops.

He is so smart they’ll develop AND be good. Don’t let Brukie brainwash you. I mean he said Mika would suck, 75 pts later he still sucks. Ya know, that 3 yrs on a decline thing

You need to understand, I dont want them to be good. 2026 and 2027 drafts are supposed to be loaded. I want this team to suck for one more year and stock up on prospects over these 2 drafts.

ParticipantDraft picks don’t hit enough tho. I mean Brukie said it. Has to be true. Wouldn’t you agree? His tongue is halfway up your colon so there must be some trust in him
32 years without a Cup and counting, in a league with more teams. Odds arent getting better.
How many draft picks have we hit on who have become good players?
My tongue was up your wifes ass, ask her.

ParticipantTj, how much more time to do you need to provide proof of your accusations about Trump?
Just asking because nobody else has found any and I know you are pretty stupid, you could die trying, we could only be so lucky. So would your kids.

Gotta draft and develop smart then bring in Vets. Cant have Vets blocking the prospects from playing as the Rangers did.
Hopefully this is the real version of Laffy and not some blip as we have seen before in the past.

ParticipantJonny Lazarus makes an argument for trading Schneider and Trocheck. I agree with Trocheck because of his age, nothing else. I love the guy but Schneider Id keep because of his age and position unless the offer is a for a promising center.

My one argument for trading Schneider is if we end up with pick 3 or 4 and draft Verhoeff or Reid, then I think Schneider can be used in a package with the Carolina pick to move up into the middle of the 1st round.
Morrow can potentially be packaged with the 2nd or some combination of 3rds to move up or get more top 50 picks.
This draft seems to be quite D heavy (and a lot of wingers which is less so of a pressing need for us unless its one of the top 2 picks), which we need to address. Next year is supposed to be incredibly center heavy, which we can address then.
