ParticipantBrakes on the Range Rover Sport are squealing like a stuck pig and I’m not paying dealer rates again
Every time I pull up to a stoplight in the school pickup line it sounds like I’m torturing a small animal and the looks I get from the other parents in their silent electric cars are starting to get to me and I know it’s just the brake wear sensor doing its job but the last time I took this thing to the dealer for pads it cost me more than a weekend at a nice hotel and I’m still not over it and this time I’m determined to find somewhere that doesn’t charge a premium just because the car has a green oval on the hood and a fancy air suspension that has nothing to do with the braking system anyway. I started poking around online trying to figure out if these Brembo calipers on the SVR need anything special or if they just take regular pads like every other car on the road and I ended up on a page at https://www.brakepadreplacementdubai.ae/brands/land-rover-brake-pad-replacement/ that actually listed the different options for the various Range Rover models and it got me thinking maybe I should just order the Textar pads that are literally the OEM supplier and have a local shop do the install and the electronic parking brake reset because I refuse to believe that a brake job on a British SUV requires a degree from Oxford and a service advisor in a three piece suit. Anyone with a L494 Range Rover Sport actually done pads at an independent shop in Dubai and can tell me if it was straightforward or if I’m going to get a call halfway through the day saying they need a special tool or a software update or something else that’s going to make me wish I’d just sold a kidney and gone back to the dealer in the first place because I just want to stop the squeal and not feel like I’ve been financially violated in the process.
