On the third and final day of Flyers post-playoffs media availability, Flyers general manager Daniel Briere revealed a lengthy list of player injuries. The good news: With the possible exception of winger Nikita Grebenkin, all of the players should be ready for the start of training camp and/or the 2026-27 regular season.

Briere did not expand upon the upper-body injury that sidelined Grebenkin for several months. However, he said the issue did not improve as hoped. The player and the organization may explore alternative options. The full list.

Emil Andrae: fractured wrist – requires surgery

Alex Bump: MCL sprain — no surgery needed

Noah Cates: fractured foot – No surgery required

Christian Dvorak: fractured rib and separated shoulder

Nikita Grebenkin: Upper body injury

Garnet Hathaway: fractured fibula

Travis Konecny: fractured rib, broken nose

Owen Tippett: internal bleeding, sports hernia (seperate issue)

Dan Vladar: hyper-extended arm/ elbow (will miss IIHF World Championship)

Cam York: fractured rib

Trevor Zegras: Elbow ligament sprain

Exit Day Interview Notebook: Briere

  • Briere started the session by praising the team’s resilience and over-achievement this season. He also gave special thanks to Flyers’ fans, most notably for the standing ovation at the end of Game Four in the Carolina series.
  • Matvei Michkov will spend at least part of the summer working out at the training facility in Voorhees. The exact plan has yet to be finalized. Briere said the player is fully aware that his conditioning has to improve significantly going into the next camp. That’s especially true with the newly shortened camps leaguewide and the adoption of an 84-game schedule.
  • Briere said the team’s overall needs this summer are not much different than last offseason. The one exception: goaltending. Specific to backup goaltender Samuel Ersson (a restricted free agent), Briere said no decision has been made to date.
  • Starting goaltender Dan Vladar has one season remaining on his contract. Vladar said on Monday that he’d be open to a proactive extension this summer.
  • Trevor Zegras will eventually get a contract extension this off-season. Briere said he doesn’t foresee any major snags in getting a deal done with the forward.
  • Briere is not enamored of the leaguewide free agent class this summer. He did not rule out the possibility of a major trade (with the usual caveat that it needs to make sense for the team in the big picture).
  • The general manager said that he had not originally planned for Porter Martone, Denver Barkey, Alex Bump and others to play such major roles down the stretch and the playoffs. However, the players’ performance merited the opportunities. They responded.
