Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers wrap up their preseason schedule on Saturday. They hos Spencer Carbery’s Washington Capitals on Satat Xfinity Mobile Arena. Game time is 5:00 p.m. EDT. Tune in to NBCSP for the television broadcast.
The Flyers are 1-2-0 in the preseason to date. On Thursday, however, Joseph Woll notched a 28-save shutout in a 2-0 home victory over the Boston Bruins. Matvei Michkov and Cole Knuble scored for the Flyers.
Flyers make four roster cuts
The Flyers announced four roster cuts on Friday. The team sent Cole Knuble, Jett Luchanko, Oliver Bonk and Jacob Gaucher to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Knuble and Luchanko both had very strong training camps. However, their AHL assignments did not come as surprises. Meanwhile, Bonk had a decent camp but not an overwhelming one. Likewise, David Jiricek didn’t blow away the competition in camp.
Rather, his waiver eligible status figured heavily into the decision. Conversely, second-year pro Bonk remains waiver exempt.
The Flyers now have 26 players left in camp. With goaltender Dan Vladar (upper body) day-to-day, third goaltender Aleksei Kolosov remains on the roster for now.

Phantoms game cancelled
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ preseason game in Wilkes-Barre on Friday night had to be cancelled due to mechanical issues at the Mohegan Arena The game will not be rescheduled.
The Phantoms will continue their preseason with a pair of games at PPL Center on Saturday against the Hershey Bears. And Lehigh Valley will play its final preseason game on Tuesday hosting the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Opening Night for the Phantoms is Saturday, October 3 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
