Team Toyota Flyers Spotlight: Porter Martone

Any player’s first game at Madison Square Garden — arguably the most famous arena in the world — is a rite of passage. For Flyers rookie winger Porter Martone, Thursday is his first career regular season game against the Rangers.

For the 2025-26 season to date, Martone has posted eight points (3g, 5a) in 17 games. However, he’s posted five points (1g, 4a) over his last five games and has generated assists in back-to-back matches.

Behind Enemy Lines: Garand becomes a workhorse

With Igor Shesterkin lost for the season, the Rangers have had to turn to Dylan Garand to carry the load in goal. Between his play in goal and improvements to team defense, Garand has regulary given his team a chance to compete in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the Rangers bounced back on Tuesday from a loss to the Edmonton Oilers the previous game, On Tuesday, the Blueshirts defeated the visiting St. Louis Blues by a 3-1 score.

Garand, who has appeared in each of the Rangers last 11 games, stopped 32 of 33 shots for the win. He flirted with a shutout until the final minute of the game

60th Anniversary: Today in Flyers History

November 5, 2005 was a landmark night for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Deuces Wild line. Simon Gagne recorded his second career hat trick and linemate Peter Forsberg collected a goal and two assists to supply all the offense for Philadelphia in a 4-3 home win over the Atlanta
Thrashers.

Meanwhile, on the same night, the team welcomed Bill Logan of Langhorne, PA as the 25 millionth fan to attend a Flyers home game. Logan was showered with confetti and personally greeted by Ed Snider. Later, he was a guest of host Steve Coates on CSN Philadelphia’s “Coatsey’s Corner” segment during intermission.

Additionally, Logan received a team-signed jersey, a Lacman watch valued at $1,000, a large flat-screen television, round- trip aifare from Southwest Airlines, accommodations for an eight-day, seven night stay in Florida which included passes to Universal Orlando and SeaWorld, catered balcony suite for a future Flyers game, the chance to meet all the players in the Flyers locker room after the game, a limousine ride and dinner for four in Victors Club for a future Flyers game, and a guest pass to attend Flyers head Coach Ken Hitchcock’s postgame press conference at a future game.
