Flyers Phans of Philly

Four years ago, the Philadelphia Flyers launch their first Casino Night fundraiser on behalf of Flyers Charities. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive from everyone who attended: fans, current players and their significant others, coaches, front office personnel and Alumni Association members. The event has only grown in scope and popularity with each passing year.

Casino Night 2025 was honestly a great time. The energy in the room was really positive, and there was so much to do. Fans and Flyers personnel alike moved between all the different games. Players hung out together and interacted with Flyers fans, too. People grabbed catered food, and stopped by the photo booth throughout the night.

The auctions definitely pulled in a lot of attention, especially the signed jerseys. The Quinyon Mitchell–signed Eagles jersey was a standout to me. There was also a Bryce Harper worn Phanatic headband that I personally wish I won! The best part about the event is that everything raised goes directly to Flyers Charities.

From the beginning, the event has been all about having fun for a good cause. The event became particularly popular with all the Flyers players. Most of the coaches not named John Tortorella eagerly looked forward to it as well. This year, the new coaching staff seemed to enjoy themselves. Most NHL teams do not have an equivalent event. Casino Night is chance to dress up for a night on the town, unwind and take in the fun atmosphere while raising money for Flyers Charities.

Flyers Charities does a lot for the community. They support families going through medical challenges. Additionally, they fun youth hockey programs so more kids can get involved. There’s so much more that Flyers Charities does, but nonetheless it’s all bettering OUR community. At Casino Night, the atmosphere stayed positive the entire evening.

Fans, players, and alumni all looked genuinely happy to be there, and the whole event felt welcoming and upbeat. Overall, Flyers Casino Night was fun, well-run, and a great reminder of how much the Flyers give back to the community.

Another fun Flyers-related event

Speaking of fun Flyers-related events each year, next Wednesday (Dec. 10) is the annual Food and Toy Collection night organized by New Balance of Mount Laurel. A host of Flyers Alumni, Phillies Alumni and the USA Hockey Warrior Classic champion Philadelphia Flyers Warriors will be on hand from 6 to 9 p.m. EST.

For attendees, photos opportunities and up to two autographs are free (additional signatures are $10 each). There will be a host of auction items from the Alumni and local sports teams.

You can’t beat the price of admission. Bring one nonperishable food item and one new unwrapped toy or game. That’s it. All food collections will be donated to Philabundance. All collected toys will be donated to Toys for Tots. Additionally 10 percent of all net proceeds from sales that evening will be donated to Snider Hockey.

This year’s event is dedicated in loving memory of Bernie Parent. Bernie attended this event each and every year, and was planning to come again before his passing a few months ago.

Scheduled 2025 attendees include:

  • Hockey Hall of Famer Bill Barber
  • Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Howe
  • Flyers Hall of Famer Joe Watson
  • Flyers Alumni Association president Brad Marsh
  • 1975 Stanley Cup winning goal scorer and longtime Flyers hockey ambassador Bob “the Hound” Kelly
  • legendary Flyers public address announcer Lou Nolan (happy 80th birthday, Lou!)
  • Philadelphia Phantoms alum Frank “the Animal” Bialowas
  • Philadelphia Phillies standout 1990s pitcher Tommy Greene (1991 no-hitter, 16-4 record in pennant winning 1993 season)
  • Flyers Hall of Famer Dave “the Hammer” Schultz, selling and autographing copies of his new book.

Store owner Geoff Rabinowitz is a diehard Philadelphia sports fan and loyal sponsor of the Flyers Alumni Association. He’s also become a Hockey Hot Stove sponsor. Even if he wasn’t, this is a tremendous yearly event that helps the less fortunate in the Delaware Valley.
