The upcoming BKFC Ice Wars event at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, features several firsts. One of the most notable additions to the hockey-style fight card: its first-ever women’s bout. Christina “the Tiger” Barry will take on Valerie Ruley during the October 10 fight card.
Barry comes primarily from a martial arts and combat sports background. She’s a professional boxer, a black belt and sensei in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and trained in Muay Thai. Barry has played ice hockey, too. However. martial arts and boxing have been her main focuses before signing up to participate in ice wars. Conversely, Chicago native Ruley comes from a more traditional hockey-focused background.
