The most anticipated off-season topic for the St. Louis Blues was the future of RFA goaltender Joel Hofer. While Blues’ General Manager Doug Armstrong stated that no other team would get Hofer, the 24-year-old was entering free agency as an RFA. The announcement came during day two of the 2025 NHL Entry Level Draft.
Hofer was drafted by the Blues #107th overall (fourth round) in the 2018 NHL Entry Level Draft. Throughout the past two seasons, Hofer has played in 69 regular-season games with the Blues, tallying a 35-22-5 record. Hofer also has a .909 save percentage and 2.65 goals-against average across the two seasons as well.
Hofer’s contract is a two-year extension worth $6.8 million ($3.4 million AAV). With Hofer appearing in 31 games last season apparent that the goaltender is taking on a bigger role in the organization, as this was the plan Armstrong stated prior to giving Hofer more starts.
