Utah Mammoth forwards Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller are one step closer to achieving their Olympic dream. On Tuesday, August 19th, Team USA announced the 44 players they have invited to their Olympic Orientation camp. Cooley and Keller will join 22 other NHL forwards at the orientation camp being held August 26th and 27th in Plymouth, Michigan. The Utah Mammoth are one of the 24 NHL teams which will be represented at the camp.
Of the 44 players invited, every player who represented Team USA at the Four Nations Cup has been invited except Matthew Tkachuk. He was named to the team back in June but is unable to attend orientation camp. The Panthers forward is recovering from offseason surgery. Neither Cooley nor Keller was a part of the Four Nations team, which finished in second place.
Keller, who captained Team USA and played on the top line with Cooley at the World Championship this year, helped the US win gold at the event. It is the first time in 92 years for Team USA. Keller and Cooley combined for 22 points in ten games at the event. They hope to repeat that chemistry for Team USA at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in February.
Utah Mammoth Forwards Look to Make a Difference
Keller registered his third 30-goal season and a career-best 90 points. Goal scoring was an issue for Team USA during the Four Nations Cup. Adding a goal scorer like Keller to the Olympic team could help that department. As for the 21-year-old Cooley, he finished his second NHL season with career bests in goals (25), assists (40), and points (65) during the 2024-25 season. He will need to be playing at his best early this season to make the USA Olympic team.
The Team USA men’s hockey team has not won gold at the Olympics since the Miracle in 1980. They have failed to win Olympic gold since NHL players have been allowed to participate. Cooley and Keller would love to be two of the players to change that in 2026.
