The Chicago Blackhawks pulled out another big win Saturday night, edging the Toronto Maple Leafs 3–2 at the United Center. Colton Dach was the hero, deflecting a Louis Crevier point shot with 4:25 left in the third to break the tie.
Spencer Knight backed it up with 31 saves, extending Chicago’s point streak to five games (4-0-1) and handing Toronto its fifth straight loss.
It was a loud, playoff-style night in Chicago, but the victory came with a price as captain Nick Foligno left the game with a hand injury and is expected to miss several weeks.
Game Summary
The Chicago Blackhawks earned one of their grittiest wins of the season on Saturday night, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 3–2 at the United Center and stretching their point streak to five games.
Chicago dressed six defensemen and twelve forwards, with Tyler Bertuzzi out and Frank Nazar back in, and the group delivered another mature, team-first effort.
Chicago opened the scoring at 11:05 when Ryan Greene buried his second goal of the season, finishing a perfect cross-zone feed from Artyom Levshunov.
When the Hawks score first, they’ve been one of the league’s toughest teams to beat — this goal pushed their record to 9-2-2 when opening the scoring.
But the Leafs tied it late in the first and then took the lead in the second on a Morgan Rielly finish, right before Chicago lost captain Nick Foligno to a painful blocked shot.
Even though the Blackhawks actually controlled a rare second period, outshooting Toronto and spending extended shifts in the offensive zone, they still found themselves down 2–1 after 40 minutes.
For this team, that’s been the tough period all year — and tonight they deserved better based on the pressure they created.
Entering the third, Chicago hadn’t won a single game this season when trailing after two periods. That changed quickly.
Early in the final frame, Frank Nazar, back in the lineup, made a slick play off the right boards and set up Teuvo Teravainen, who walked through the middle and scored his fourth of the season with a smooth move to tie it 2–2.
Nazar later talked about how easy it is to play with Teravainen, explaining that Teuvo always seems to know where the play is going, reads off his teammates quickly, and puts the puck in areas that make you look good.
Their chemistry continues to grow every game.
And once again, the third period belonged to the Blackhawks. Chicago is now +16 in third-period goal differential, one of the strongest numbers in the NHL.
At 15:35, Colton Dach fought for inside position and tipped a Louis Crevier point shot for his second goal of the season — and the first game-winning goal of his NHL career.
A hard-working, net-front goal from a young forward who keeps taking steps.
Spencer Knight shut the door the rest of the way, finishing with 31 saves and giving the Hawks their first comeback win of the season when trailing entering the third.
Another big note: nine different Blackhawks picked up a point, showing how deep this lineup is becoming under Jeff Blashill.

My 3 Takeaways
1. The Blackhawks aren’t just winning — they’re learning how to win.
You have to be impressed by the way Chicago is playing right now. Jeff Blashill has this young group playing real, structured hockey. In a rebuild, you want meaningful games, you want growth, and you want habits. The Hawks are doing all three.
They’re closing out tight games, defending well, and this is already their 6th game of the season allowing two goals or less — over 33% of their schedule. That tells you the system is working.
And it’s not just Bedard. Every night there’s a new hero — Dach, Teravainen, Donato, Greene… this is becoming a team where everyone pulls in the same direction.
2. Artyom Levshunov is blossoming right in front of us.
A lot of fans were nervous about the No. 2 pick last year, but Levshunov is showing exactly why Chicago believed in him.
His passing has changed the look of the power play, he makes smart decisions, and his gap control keeps improving.
He’s 20 years old, and defensemen normally take years to settle in unless you’re talking about a unicorn like Makar.
Levshunov has 8 assists in his last 9 games, including 4 on the power play, and you can see the confidence growing. Yes, there will be ups and downs, but the future is bright. Be patient — he’s going to be a big-time NHL defenseman.
3. Spencer Knight is the Blackhawks’ MVP right now.
Bedard is spectacular, but Knight is the engine of this early-season success. Every night he gives Chicago a chance to win with big saves at big moments.
Tonight was another example: 31 saves on 33 shots (.939 SV%), calm, composed, and locked in.
Knight now has 9 games above .900 save percentage in 13 starts and already 7 wins this season.
Kyle Davidson looks like a genius for trading for him. If he keeps this up, Knight should absolutely be in the conversation for Team USA at the 2026 Olympics.
An Hero Obscure: Louis Crevier Is Playing the Best Hockey of His Career
Louis Crevier started the season as a healthy scratch, the true 7th defenseman waiting for his chance.
But since he came back into the lineup, he’s playing the best hockey of his young career. With his big frame and long reach, Crevier doesn’t need to do anything complicated — he just has to play within his strengths. And he’s doing exactly that.
He has 5 points in his last six games, averaging over 15 minutes per night, with 9 hits and a solid +4.
This is a player you don’t hear much about when people talk about the Blackhawks, but he’s becoming a quiet difference-maker.
Crevier is playing tough, he’s keeping things simple defensively, and he’s even showing a bit of offensive upside. He’s doing his job perfectly, and every good team needs a guy like him.
Tonight, Louis Crevier is my Hero Obscure.
Final Thought
This was another big step forward for the Chicago Blackhawks. They’re not just winning games — they’re building an identity.
They defend together, they battle for each other, and they’re learning how to close out tight games, something young teams usually struggle with.
You can feel the confidence growing every night. Veterans are buying in, the kids are taking major steps, and Spencer Knight continues to give them elite goaltending.
Add the rise of players like Dach, Greene, Teravainen, and even an obscure hero like Crevier, and you can see a real team forming here.
It’s early, and there will be bumps along the way, but right now the Blackhawks are showing signs of a group that believes — and that’s how you start turning a rebuild into something special.
Next Game
The Blackhawks will be back in action next Tuesday, November 18, with puck drop set for 8:30 PM CDT.
