Flames Prospects Reschny and Parekh Invited to Team Canada Training Camp

Calgary Flames prospects Cole Reschny and Zayne Parekh have been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Training Camp roster, announced Hockey Canada on Monday morning.

While there is still time for cuts with 27 players invited to camp, Parekh has been considered a lock for some time provided that he is healthy. The 19 year old from Markham, Ontario, cruised through three years of Junior, posting 240 points (87g, 153a) in 177 games before starting the 2025-26 season on the wrong foot in the NHL. After 11 games, the six-foot tall defenceman has only a single assist in 11 games.

Out of the lineup due to a collision with Chicago’s Nick Foligno on Nov. 7, the crafty blueliner has been working his way back into form for the past month.

“I’m just really excited,” said Parekh of getting some of his swagger back. “I think this is going to be a good opportunity for me, help me build some confidence back and find my groove again.”

Reschny, 18, has 18 points (2g, 16a) in 16 games so far in his freshman NCAA season at the University of North Dakota. His teammate Keaton Verhoeff may be stealing some of the spotlight – the defenceman is projected to go top-three at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft – Reschny currently leads the team in scoring

Camp will take place from Dec. 12-22 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. WJHC-U20 kicks off on Dec. 26 and concludes on Jan. 5.
