Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers ((24-20-10) are home on Tuesday evening to take on Spencer Carbery’s Washington Capitals (28-22-7) in the penultimate game before the Olympic break.The Flyers have a 12-9-6 home record to date this season, while the Caps are 12-12-4 on the road.
The Flyers enter this game coming off a 3-2 home overtime loss to the LA Kings on Saturday afternoon. Travis Konecny had a goal and assist to lead a comeback from a two-goal deficit before hitting the post on an overtime breakaway. Trevor Zegras notched a power play tally to hit the 20-goal mark for the season.
Washington has won back-to-back matches heading into this game. On Monday, the Capitals collected a 4-1 home win over the New York Islanders. Washington trailed 1-0 at the first intermission. Thereafter, they struck for two unanswered goals apiece in the second and third periods.
Checking forward Nic Dowd recorded a goal and an assist, while Martin Fehervary, Anthony Beauvillier and veteran offensive defenseman John Carlson (ENG). Meanwhile, Clay Stevenson made 29 saves on 30 shots to win his second consecutive start while filling in for the injured Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren.

Injury report: Flyers
- Tyson Foerster (right arm surgery) is likely out for the rest of the season. He has a five-month estimated timetable from December.
- Rodrigo Abols (ankle) suffered an injury in the Jan. 17 game against the Rangers. He was placed on IR the next day.
- Samuel Ersson (lower body) left last Thursday’s game in Boston after the second period. Aleksei Kolosov was recalled to back up Vladar for Saturday’s game. After starting Sunday’s game for the Phantoms , Kolosov practiced in place of Ersson with the Flyers on Monday.

The Flyers will hold a 10:30 a.m. morning skate at Xfinity Mobile Arena. They practiced on Monday in Voorhees. Travis Konecny took a much-needed maintenance day but is OK to play on Tuesday. Look for Dan Vladar to start in goal, backed up by Aleksei Kolosov. Emil Andrae took sporadic reps at Monday’s practice. Tocchet indicated afterwards that he’d like to get Andrae into at least one of the two games before the Olympic break but is not sure if he will.

- Goaltender Logan Thompson (upper body) is officially day-to-day. He practiced on Sunday and Monday. However, Thompson will not be available to play until Thursday against Nashville per Carbery’s post-practice quotes.
- Goaltender Charlie Lindgren (lower body) is on IR and will not be available until after the Olympics. He was injured during overtime against the Detroit Red Wings. He played in the subsequent shootout and earned the win. However, Lindgren needed assistance to leave the ice at the end of the night.
- Connor McMichael (upper body) is on IR. He is officially week-to-week.
- Pierre-Luc Dubois (core muscle) is on IR. He has missed most of the season. Dubois joined practice last week.

Projected lineup: Capitals
The lines below reflect Monday’s lineup against the Islanders. Washington will not hold a morning skate on Tuesday. The main question is whether Clay Stevenson will start for the third time in four nights (and both halves of the back-to-back). Thompson won’t be ready to dress for a game until Thursday, according to Monday’s reports.
Garin Bjorklund, 23, has mostly played in the ECHL during his young career. However, he has backed up Stevenson in Hershey this season (11 games played) in addition to playing seven ECHL games. Prior to this season, he had two AHL games and 57 in the ECHL.
