Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers (8-5-3) are on the road on Friday to take on Jim Montgomery’s St. Louis Blues (6-8-3) at Enterprise Center. The Flyers have gained points in four straight games but are coming off back-to-back home overtime losses to the Ottawa Senators (3-2 last Saturday) and Edmonton Oilers (2-1 on Wednesday).
Matvei Michkov brings a career-best three-game goal-scoring streak into Friday’s tilt. He will go for four in a row against the Blues. Meanwhile, Travis Konecny will look to extended his current eight-game point streak (4g, 6a, 10 points). Conversely, the serially streaky Owen Tippett has not recorded a point in his last six games and has one point (0g, 1a) to show for his last 10 games after a run of five goals in five games.
With the Flyers playing the front end of a B2B and the second game of a three-in-four set, look for Samuel Ersson and Dan Vladar to split the next two games in net.
The Blues have been idle since a 3-2 home win against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. The Blues got off to a 3-0 lead, yielded two goals in a half-minute span in the second period but held on to win. Dylan Holloway (PPG, 4th), Matthew Kessel (4th) and Nathan Walker (2nd) scored for the Blues. Oskar Sundqvist posted a pair of assists, tying him with Robert Thomas for the team high (7) for the season.
