Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers (17-9-6) extended their point streak to five straight games on Tuesday night. The team played a strong all-around road game in an impressive 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
Carl Grundstrom (3rd goal of the season), Trevor Zegras (14th), Bobby Brink (9th) and Travis Konecny (ENG, 9th) scored for Philly. Dan Vladar turned aside 21 of 22 shots to earn the win in net.
There’s not much by way of “bad” or “ugly” elements from Tuesday’s performance. However, there were plenty of good things. The Flyers generally defended well. They took control of the game in the second period. Philly only took one penalty all game. They got goals from various different sources around the lineup. Rasmus Ristolainen made a strong return after missing the first two and a half months of the season. Philadelphia dominated in faceoffs. Vladar was outstanding despite seeing few shots for the first 40 minutes.
Again, there’s not much negativity to relay. The power play came up empty, and let a pair of first-period opportunities slip away. In the third period, the Flyers had to go into bend-don’t-break containment mode for a significant stretch before they restored order. That’s when Vladar really shined.
Guess what: goaltending part of the game. There’s never a need to apologize or mark down a performance because it “might” have been different if the goalie didn’t step up. The bottom line is that the Flyers withstood the third-period push, added an empty-netter and sent the Montreal crowd home unhappy.

Injury Update: Tyson Foerster
The Flyers provided an injury update on Tyson Foerster on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it’s bad news. The team initially said that the Flyers would miss two to three months but would not require surgery for the non-contact injury the player suffered on December 1 against Pittsburgh.
The team disclosed on Wednesday that the player underwent surgery on his right arm on March 15. He will miss five months (the rest of the regular season). Foerster posted 10 goals and 13 points in 21 games played.
On the play in question, Foerster clearly injured his upper right arm (or right shoulder) although the team used the “upper-body injury” designation. Foerster went down to the ice as he shot a one-timer. He exited the ice immediately, clutching his right arm with the left. The right arm hung limply as Foerster cast aside his left glove and disappeared down the tunnel.

Flyers Daily: December 17, 2025
Jason Myrtetus recaps Tuesday’s win in Montreal. He also answers viewer email and weighs in on why he thinks the daily go-round on Matvei Michkov debates is ultimately a good thing for the organization. He firmly believes (as do I) that Michkov will be just fine in the big picture. This, too, shall pass.
