Yup. It’s a long shot, but it’s still a shot. I’m sure he’s not happy losing in back to back Cup finals, I’m sure he’s not happy losing in 6 vs 7 (step back for their team) and I’m sure he’s not happy with how free agency has gone. They lost a lot of guys and replaced them with only Mangiapane. They haven’t addressed the tendie situation at all, and other teams in their division loaded up. Plus, LA has a guaranteed ticket to lose in the finals with Perry.
I get what you’re saying but how in the hell do the leafs sign him without getting rid of Matthews? That would have to happen.
Don’t the Leafs have $26M or something like that in cap space next year? Obviously, the rest of the team is going to be filled with plugs (look at the current Oilers), but historically, 97 can single-handedly drag a team of plugs to the finals. Roughly, last year’s leaf team minus Marner and plus McDavid gives an aging Florida team their toughest challenge.
