I gotta say i enjoy that we have a very good penalty kill. Rinzel didn’t take kindly to the high hit so he went and gave him a lasting cross check at center ice.

It sends notice to players if you are going to come in high on your hits we are going to retaliate and sure we might get penalized but it doesn’t matter because you ain’t going to score.

Thanks for your comment — and you’re absolutely right about their penalty kill. It’s been one of the biggest strengths of the team so far. A solid PK gives them confidence and keeps them competitive, even when the power play isn’t clicking.

I also liked Rinzel’s response after that high hit. It sends a clear message: if you’re going to take liberties, the Hawks will push back. Sure, it might cost them a minor penalty once in a while, but when your PK is this good, it’s worth standing your ground. Plays like that build character and team identity.

Also can i get a rule clarification, if you deflect a puck with your stick that isn’t considered possession? I thought that’s the only time you can call the play dead not when you see the deflected puck headed into the Senators net, hahaha, refs=bums

Since we have such a good penalty kill and when we are winning and teams like the Kings and Senators keep us on the ice for long shifts on the 2nd period, i would put my pk unit out there after a long shift and keep a fast forward at center ice or even near the opponents blue line and force them to decide to collapse or honor the forward cherry picking, then the Blackhawks can shoot the puck down the forward negates icing or even may have a breakaway chance.

Those on ice officials sucked! But I am really rankled by the offside that wasn’t called offside. What is the linesman looking at? Then, Toronto said he maintained possession when he clearly didn’t. This league is still a minor league with calls like that.

FWIW, Blashill said that after they got in the room and he was able to watch it again he agreed with the call on the ice. If that’s gonna be the way they call it now, I guess I would just hope they are consistent in calling it that way going forward. What gets me is where the rule seems to flip flop depending on the situation.
