Does NHL expansion mean longer careers for older players?

I was thinking about this the other day. IF/when the NHL officially expands another 2-3 teams, is this going to mean some older players stick around longer OR younger players finally make it into the nhl as they haven't yet. Thoughts?

Short answer: yes, I think expansion prolongs certain careers. However,I also think it creates more young players who get rushed to the NHL before they’re quite ready.
