ParticipantYou ever get the feeling that the Flyers would rather build around Hathaway (who plays the right way) instead of Michkov?

– in a way yes. JJ Doucher and Hartnell just suck his dick every game. I don’t get it. Mind boggling. they fawn over him. I swear they have to be told to talk about him. If not then wow.
– anyone who thinks tocchet is a good coach is a fucking moron. He will do more damage to this team when all is said and done. He has no answers for anything.
– Briere is a fucking puppet who has no balls. If he is on board how MM is being handled, then he is worse at his job than I thought. If he doesn’t and is on board, it’s just as bad. I pray they trade him or he asks out.
– Been saying it for a while Tocchet just doesn’t like MM for some reason. To move him to his off wing to cater to Brink and Tippet is a disgrace.
– really sad to see a once great franchise now in its current state. There is no way out on the path they continue to take.
– thinking any players will want to come to play this style of hockey is comical. You will get the GH and seeler types sure. Other than that, no one who will elevate the team.
– flyers have been bad for so long they still do not have anyone worthwhile to call up to help the Flyers. speaks volumes about their drafting and developing.
– dumb ass flyers fans continue to spend money on this team is fascinating.

ParticipantIf what the team has shown on ice during this “slump” (and quite frankly, for the past decade) is their culture, then they deserve the additional decade of irrelevance they’re destined for.
Change front offices, coaches, etc. all you want… this unit as a whole lacks the hockey IQ to be anything more than a team outside the playoff bubble year in and year out.

ParticipantThere was zero need for Noah Juulsen to fight Jack McBain midway through the third period. Actually, it wasn’t so much the fight itself. It was the initial roughing penalty to preceded the fight. Yes, Juulsen was defending Drysdale. However, midway through the third period of a two-goal game is not the time to leave your team shorthanded.
The Juulsen penalty was a must-kill. It wasn’t. Guenther’s power play tally gave Utah life. Before that, the third period was under control. Now Philly was in hang-in mode. They still should have won, 5-3.The Flyers and their old time hockey mentality.
The lineup decisions were crap as well. Whether you might win an extra game or two in Jan. of a throwaway year is irrelevant. Play Zegras exclusively at center because that’s where you need to know if he can play long term and Michkov at RW because that’s where he needs to be long term. If Brink has to play his off wing than so be it. One of those is face of the future for the franchise and he’s basically been told to eat crap and smile all year from the coach.
I hate the Michkov narrative this FO/coach keeps putting out. I am not as concerned about his point production as his usage and TOI. Let the kid learn from his mistakes and stop trying to put a round peg in a square hole. The issues with Michkov are overblown by the coach. One might say Tocch has a bug up his posterior regarding Michkov. His underlying metrics are some of the best on the team.

ever notice how JJ and Doucher are not very complimentary towards MM unlike last year. What has changed?
only a fn idiot head coach would move MM from right to left wing. All to accommodate brink and tippet. The fact briere seems to be on board with the head coach is telling.

John Tortorella’s Role for the Flyers Only Intensifies After His Press Box Visit
Tortorella was not present behind the bench and it was later revealed that he was sitting side-by-side with Daniel Brière. The Flyers got heavily outplayed, the likes that we haven’t seen a Tortorella-led team play in recent weeks, but somehow managed an overtime point.
The same thing happened the following game against Buffalo but with Brière traveling elsewhere, Tortorella watched from the locker room instead. He did make his return behind the bench in their last game against Pittsburgh.Remember 2023 when DB let Torts play GM, and let someone else coach the team, the job he was paid to do? What competent team let’s their coach spend the game in the locker room instead of coaching the team? I have not heard of any other team, other than this DB led team, letting their healthy coach, do this.
The stupid shit this team has done under DB and Torts was legion including Torts essentially quitting while DB whined about wanting him to come back but not being able to bring him back. I feel that Tocch has the same free reign Torts had.

ParticipantBill, why don’t all blogs have forums? Jan has posted 3 blogs but none of them have a forum so keeping up with current talk is kinda difficult and talking in the blogs waiting hours for comments to get approved isn’t the most affective. Can’t figure out how to DM on here so sorry for posting this in your blog.
