ParticipantKypreos was right.
The better team won. There is zero question that Florida is the better team.
This.
This Leafs team is better than previous versions. Their time will come. They just need to keep adding pieces without losing their best players.
The Panthers will cap and age themselves out in the next two years. We didn’t get swept. They can be beat if the correct adjustments are made.

ParticipantWhy do people say to get rid of Matthews? I bet you’d take McKinnon on your team though right? The guy has gotten out of the second round ONCE in his career and that was when he won a cup.
He also made the playoffs once in his first 4 years. Has been to the second round more than Matthews though. Regardless the point is, you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Keep the top centerman. -Aaron
Have you ever watched Mackinnon play compared to how Matthews plays? Matthews is every bit as lazy, frightened and useless as Marner. When the going gets tough, not one of them (MMTNR) rises to the occasion.

Mike AugelloKeymasterIf Woll sucked, the game would’ve been over in the first 10 minutes. This team did not show up in the two most important games of the season on home ice. That is an indictment of the club that Brendan Shanahan assembled.

~FakepartofmeBefore tonight, he had something like a .950 sv% in potential series clinching games, and the Leafs did him zero favors tonight. Granted, he was not great tonight, but the kid has a bright future.
Like I said, Tre has done a great job so far with the back end, he gets free reign to retool the forwards now as far as I’m concerned.
Fire Shanny into the mother fucking sun.

ParticipantBye marner
Dumb mentality.
Would be extremely Leafy watching him win a Cup somewhere else, just like Kadri.

AaronCause he isnt a playoff performer.
Hes not worth the money.
Matthews is no MacKinnon…not even close or comparable.
Matthews has a 1/4 of the heart and will or mackinnonMay 18, 2025 at 10:43 pm #5712Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantWell no. He isn’t a “must” stay. Reason? He doesn’t have a contract and doesn’t have to be signed. Leafs will suit up a roster and win some games regardless if Marner is on that roster. -Aaron
Yes, he must stay. You improve the team by keeping your best players, not letting them go for nothing in return.
Losing Marner is not addition by subtraction like it would be if it were dumping Rielly. There is nobody out there to replace him. Nobody willing to come here for less who will provide more either.

ParticipantMarner must stay. You can’t lose your leading scorer for nothing. There is nobody available to replace him that will actually sign here for less money and more impact
