ParticipantDid anyone see his presser when he was introduced to the Vegas media this in it’s entirety?
Link posted below.
I hadn’t but after reading ‘reports’ he had been talking to people about Vegas before free agency etc. and reading blogs, ‘reports’ he was checked out and had decided he was leaving Toronto quite some time ago I watched this start to finish.
So he talks about talking to Mark Stone and Adian Hill about the ‘living arrangements’ in Vegas sure sounds like these reports had some truth to them. He quickly tries to say he wasn’t talking to Stone / Hill much but he sure didn’t hold back to say he talked to Reevo and Patches about things like living arrangements, schooling etc.
I’m not saying these aren’t questions that should be asked by someone considering moving his family but the way he was in this presser sure has me believing Marner has known he was leaving Toronto well before this season even started.
It’s fairly obvious at the very least he had zero intention of re-upping with Toronto after the TDL to me based on this quote – “I was still very committed to playing Toronto hockey, wanted to just focus on being there and ‘
finishing a job there
‘
I don’t believe him for one minute when he says there wasn’t alot of talk about him coming to Vegas at 4 nations at all when he was talking to Hill and Stone at 4 nations. He had a freudian slip at about the 15:25 mark where he is talking about Toronto and he says last year in Toronto or 2 years ago really and then goes on to complain about all the things ‘we didn’t know what would happen’ just tells me he knew 2 years ago he was leaving. He says he was “ready to commit” as soon as the year started and play hockey but at the same time they were willing to ‘take it to the distance’. This is a word salad but TO ME screams that because the Leafs didn’t offer him an insane amount 2 summers ago he decided he was leaving.

The more I learn about this entire saga the more I thank god the Leafs didn’t re-sign him.
