ParticipantFire craig brubay and just put a cardboard cutout of Pat Quinn behind the bench
Are you kidding me?!?! If you’re going to go through all the trouble and expense of getting a cardboard cutout, at least make it Pat Burns.
RIP, legend.

ParticipantAbout to see what matthews is made of.
If needs to come back and carry this team for the next little while, prove that he doesnt need marner to be a dominant player.November 25, 2025 at 1:02 pm #51235Dozzer

LOL
Its more definition of the leafs organization. They simply cannot seem to get their shit together or do what is required of them. Those 1st rounders should have never been traded last year.
Fire Tre.But its still early, they could still sneak into the playoffs.
Either way. Fire Tre!
Wait til the end of the year so the leafs have the best chance in finishing in the bottom 5!!!!
The leafs finish 28th overall, and as he’s smiling they boot his ass on live tv, I’d love it 😍

Damn, I wish Mitchy-poo was still here to carry us. We could really use his *checks notes* 2 assists in the last 7 games, -5, and the most brutal OT giveaway you’ve ever seen. Nice, dry hair, though.

In hindsight, the Carlo and Laughton trades hurt. But Tre was trying to do what he could to push the Leafs over the top, and that comes at a cost. The Leafs almost beat the eventual cup winners, after losing their #1 goalie in game 1. Granted, they got butt fucked in games 5 and 7, but that’s what the Panthers do, grind you down over a long series. The Panthers kicked the shit out of every other team they played last year, the Leafs were the only team to take them to 7.
Carlo was solid last year, but fell off a cliff this year. Hopefully, he can turn it around.
Laughton was terrible last year, but is playing much better this year. Hopefully, he can keep it up.

I won’t keep looking at last year, the team is built notably different now and is playing a different game. Supposed to be more physical North/South hockey, some seem to be buying in and others not so much.
They’ve been just burdened with a shit ton of injuries. I mean come on, their primary shut down d man has had two concussions now, their captain was supposed to have a comeback year and nope, not yet, they’ve got a goaltending tandem who are supposed to split the season down the middle and they haven’t even been dressed in the same game yet.
Unless their luck changes and changes soon, this season won’t start looking any better.

ParticipantBecause they lost their best player over the summer.
Because they’re stupid.
And because the fans are stupid.
they didnt have great numbers last season either, the goalies really masked a lot.
losing a top line player doesnt help, but even with him they would be bad still. things have been sliding for a few seasons, steadily getting worse with each move Brad makes.I wasnt a fan of the GM tre move. he needs to go

I disagree in that they’d still suck with their best player Marner. He set the tone for the team. He made Matthews successful. He bore the brunt of criticism so Nylander could go float around center ice looking for breakaway passes. He was everything to the team.
But Brad is an awful GM.

this is the 4th season in a row there they have trended down by a decent chunk in xgf, possession whatever you want to look at. Marner was there for 3 of them
Tre has chipped around the edges to try and make the team bigger and tougher to play against..but they are just slower and worse.-

The goalies did mask a lot of the problems this team had but it was more manageable for the goalies to do so last year than this year.
The Leafs PP and PK have both been horrid and both are directly connected to Marner as he was a piece of both units that had more success with him than without him. Last year, when Matthews torn his labia, Marner carried the team on his back. This year, the guys “carrying” the team are losing games while scoring points because their defense is atrocious.
Treliving is a dumbass and a bad GM. He’s failed at every team he’s ever been at. He’s like JFJ, maybe worse because at least JFJ was originally hired as a rookie GM so there was the chance of untapped potential. Treliving failed so hard in Phoenix and Calgary, nobody in this organization should have even given him an interview.
The dumbest fans out there screamed for the team to under go radical change. They got what they screamed for and go figure, the idiots were wrong. Had Treliving had run the team back from last year and done minor patches to address the depth players, odds are they’re sitting in a wild card spot or better right now and still have the same chance they had last year of pushing the Panthers to Game 7. Hell, with the exact same team, the Panthers might miss the playoffs and the Leafs wouldn’t have to worry about them at all.

You can look at xGF for the Leafs but you can’t forget the fact that whatever they did last year, got them to Game 7 vs. the Panthers. That team, if kept together, could still be where they were last year. You have to consider that other teams are also in flux every year so even if the Leafs had some stats in decline, other teams in the division are also suffering from the same decline.
If the Leafs had been swept by the Panthers, it’d be a different conversation. But they went to Game 7. That should have been enough to give that group another chance with tweaks such as dumping Kampf, Jarnkrok and other depth players that did nothing positive.

Not to mention the tiny little detail that MARNER DIDN’T WANT TO RE-SIGN WITH THE FUCKING LEAFS. Holy, some people just love to beat the living fuck out of a dead horse.
Don’t look now, but there are already Vegas fans with buyers remorse. Only 7.7ish years to go, suckers!
