ParticipantFuck it, lets have some fun.
Knies for Quinn Hughes, straight up. How much of an extension do you need to make that deal?
Never mind, he still has another year left. Can’t work out an extension till next July. Would be a VERY risky move.
Who says no? Does anyone do that deal?

ParticipantThe Leafs are getting some of their injured players back in the line up vs. CBus for this evening game.

Then you flip him to NJ cause that’s were his bros are playing.

Contract concern? Meh… Rielly and Knies then for Hughes and a pick, any pick, 7th round pick, protected at a top 30 finish. 👍

100% Hughes is going to the NJD. It’s just a matter of when and for how much. Either Vancouver moves him now and gets something valuable. Or, they get nothing at all.
This is precisely why the Leafs should consider moving Matthews, Nylander etc. with term left on their deals. The value they could and would bring back would allow the Leafs to rebuild in 2-3 years instead of the usual 5-7 years. They just have to do it properly.

I don’t think that does it. The only reason it might is that clearly Vancouver knows Hughes wants to go to NJ… but then that is a problem for the Leafs also, and now you have given up probably the 2nd best player on the team.
I wish they could get Hughes. one of the top 2 dmen in the league is just about as valuable as an elite 1st line center, which the Leafs also no longer have.

ParticipantMaccelli scratched for the game. He’s been, as predicted, a fucking failure. Kerfoot 2.0.

You are 100% correct on Vancouver knowing Hughes wants to go to the NJD. You can’t give up the Leafs #1 player under 25 for that with that type of risk attached.
If the Leafs want a guy like Hughes, they have to blow it up and draft one.

ParticipantLeafs suck balls on the road and usually suck vs. Columbus so therefore Leafs win 5-3.

ParticipantLeafs fans tonight:
“Ok this is it, this is where we turn it around and go on a run.”
Leafs lose 5-1

A total Dubas 2020 player.
Just a shame Tre sucks as much as well feared he would.
I don’t know who’s good now-a-days. But I’ve been managing an airline for 2 years now and I’m pretty sure I could do a better job than most as GM of an NHL team.
Just draft/trade for players who care. Guys who crash and bang, but have skill. Like Clarke and Tucker. The Leafs problem is that they never instigate shit anymore. They just hope the game stays quiet and hopefully that allows their skill to shine through. Benoit sometimes get ornery, maybe Domi at time. But when’s the last time you seen them go truck someone opening shift to set the tone?
Honestly if I played against the Leafs I’d fucking target Nylander. I’d run him into the boards from behind, then kick Domi’s ass.
