ParticipantYou’re all in a cult.
Says the communist.
Kid, its clear you simply do not know what that means.
The fact that your constant unwarranted go to words in any post or reply is “retard”, “communist” or “libtard” speaks volumes to your lack of maturity, depth and says so much about your own limitations. And yes I fully understand that anyone who has 2-4 alternate accounts on a hockey chat room is also immature.

ParticipantMatthews should take his purple purse and go pout in the press box.
I’m beginning to really hate him. What the hell am I supposed to do with my 34 Jersey? I can’t wear that anymore.
I agree. Fortunately I never wasted money on a matthews jersey.
It was a mistake giving him the captaincy imo.
For years this team has lacked compete, fight and heart but always seemed to have a boatload of indifference. Marner wasnt THE problem, he was part of a greater problem.
This is the type of year I’ve wanted for the past couple of years with one big exception…..I wanted the leafs to have their 1st round pick.
The leafs have needed a retool for a while, get some high picks sell off some players and then comeback the following year.Unfortunately, they wasted their 1st rounders for years. Last years deadline trades were huge overpayments.
I dont believe Tre is the gm qualified to turn this thing around. The leafs either need to make the playoffs or finish in the bottom 5…..at this point they will probably leaf it and finish 6th worse.
Philly going to have a great pick at this years draft.Come on Jays do something to take our minds off the leafs for the next several weeks.

ParticipantSounds like you’ve lived had a good life, man. All the bullshit aside, I’d probably trade places with you for a few years in your 20’s haha.
Since I’ve been to Ireland, I just can’t shake the vibes of that place. I’d move there in a second, just for the music and pub culture.
My name it is Sam Hall, chimney sweep chimney sweep!
Oh it was a blast of a life… if you can handle living out of an Astro mini van with 4 other guys that is 😂
As for Ireland I’d love to go.. we have a daughter living in Scotland going to school there right now… so happy and jealous for/of her at the same time lol

ParticipantDubas/Keefe had flaws, but the teams were better

I wasnt a fan of the Treliving hiring from the start, mainly because he didnt do much in calgary and the same is playing out with the Leafs. but has he ever gradually ground this team to awful.
Burube is a shit coach also. but a bad combo. just a downward trend all overDecember 19, 2025 at 1:48 pm #55671WHIPPER
ParticipantThat would actually be awesome.
Would be a fantastic statement but terrible for the value of our players for the rebuild so hope it doesn’t go that way.
Need this team to realize it’s time to rebuild, without being a lottery team but still have enough value in the older players to sell off for assets.
It’s a tough situation and Treliving isn’t up to it, that’s a guarantee.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough, but Tre had the balls to try to get Mitch to waive to bring in Rants, so maybe he’ll make the hard-to-make moves now.
The next 6-8 months will define his career. Not stellar in Calgary, can he turn it around in Toronto?

It won’t look pretty. Matthews, Nylander, and Rielly will choose where they want to go if they want to go anywhere and that will limit the return coupled with their salary amount which will also limit their return. The leafs will have to take salary back which means they won’t get as many picks/prospects as they would like.
Tbh I’m guessing if anything happens it will be a new coach first, not a blow up.

And rightfully so. This is right out of the Oilers playbook. Team plays like shit, coach loses the room, fire coach, cup final. Granted, I don’t see the team as currently constructed doing much in the playoffs this year, (assuming they make it), but there is still a fuck ton of talent on this team, they just need someone to unlock it. I’d fucking love to see Torts come in and smack these fuckers with their own purses. I’m just about done with Matthews.

Rip the C from his jersey and I’m willing to bet he’ll accept getting moved. He flat out does not drive the team, good player with talent but he’s a shitty leader.
As for the team I do kinda feel bad for Berube. He’s yet to have the goaltending plan which was having both Stolarz and Woll bouncing back and forth in the stating roll, they’ve yet to even be in a game together. And then their D has been crumbled by injury as well, look at right now for instance, two of their top 4 D men, like them or not, are hurt.
It has unfortunately seems to have lead to the team not caring enough now, so Tre needs to find a way to amp up them giving a shit and I’m thinking it’s going to take a fresh face behind the bench. I could be wrong, I am a lot lol, but I won’t be shocked if I’m not about this.

Trading two 1st round picks last deadline killed this team hope for a quick turnaround.
Both trades were huge overpayments.Tre has been a huge failure here so far.

Giving matthews the C was such a bad moved.
Also, Tre signed a couple of older players long term….one of which has history of injuries.
Tre also extended two goalies who have a history of injuries.
So some of the injuries the leafs have had arent that much of surprise imo.I think Berube has 3 years left, not a good look on Tre if he fires him before year two of his contract finishes.
BUT!
Pete DeBoer is available….maybe thats enticing to Tre?

Extending Stolarz was a mistake before he proved he was capable of ensuring a starter’s role without well… hurting himself. I like him but I didn’t like that.
The D is questionable but not the end of the world, the injuries that hit them back there arent really age related, just sad BS bad luck.
As for the coaches contract who cares? The leafs have more than enough $ to pay off Berube’s contract, so if the team isn’t listening to him it’s simply one of two choices. 1: keep him and start tearing the team down or 2: fire him and give it one last try under someone else.

The reason why the Leafs are so bad this year, is because the let the fans dictate how to run the team.
In order to win in today’s NHL you needs to be selfless. Meaning you need to play at all ends of the ice. You can’t have guys learning basic defensive positioning and have them being your leaders. Your leader needs to be fearless, they need to set the tone.
At the end of the day I don’t blame the fans, people are just shallow and stupid these days. Instagram influences opinions of players, not their play on the ice. So the fans are too stupid to know what’s good for the team. But for management to give into pressure and let their best player walk for nothing, while rewarding selfish players is completely unacceptable. I was excited when they hired Berube because I thought there was a chance he’d either improve Nylander’s overall game, or force him off the team. Turns out Tre either didn’t have the power to move him, or the stones to move him.
Guys, it’s over. Not only was I right about everything, it happened quicker than even I could have expected.
