ParticipantHey fatty!
Nope. Wrong.
Mitch left. He chose to leave. He stated it was time to move on.
If a guy ‘like me’ can force mitchy to leave – it doesn’t surprise me he slink away come playoff time – when things get tight space wise and player play mean.
I couldn’t care less if Leafs ever won a cup again – no offence to the fans on here but it definitely won’t change my life at all. I’d love to see it though – be super fun and exciting to watch happen. But truly won’t lose sleep either way.
As always my little incel friend – all you do is make yourself look classless and foolish. You have zero understanding of this great game.
Super high IQ though I bet – you type fantastic!!
You’re FIRED!

ParticipantThis and he’s a goal scorer who is now playing for a coach who wants this team playing a style that aims at 2-1 or 3-2 type wins. Can’t see him liking that too much.[/quote]
– DozzerBerube uses centres like 3rd dmen out there. Never fun for a player like him.

ParticipantTanking certainly has it’s benefits this year, if they full blown tank it.
No. 3: Keaton Verhoeff, D, 6-foot-4, 212 pounds, North Dakota (NCAA)
Made a gutsy call when he decided to join Victoria teammate Cole Reschny at North Dakota. Reschny was Calgary’s first round pick, 18th overall in 2025, while Verhoeff is expected to go shortly after McKenna in June. He doesn’t possess McKenna’s track record and plays a different position, so it will be fascinating to track Verhoeff’s progress as a draft eligible defenceman in college. The debate will be heavy as to whether he was better off getting more games in the CHL, or utilizing a lighter NCAA schedule to become stronger. Only time will tell. He has checked all the boxes on the way up the developmental ladder from Canada’s Youth Olympic team through gold medals at the U17s and U18 worlds. Most recently, he was Canada’s captain in a bronze medal-winning performance at the Hlinka-Gretzky.
No. 4: Ethan Belchetz, LW, 6-foot-5, 227 pounds, Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
His size always allowed him to dominate youth hockey, and now he is doing the same in the OHL. Last year, Belchetz put up four goals in his third ever OHL game, but tailed off to score just 13 more in the next 53 contests. He roams the ice like he owns it. His hands and feet work well together to create additional space to execute plays. He’s got a big league shot that is effective from distance. I like the fact that he plays in a Windsor lineup with other over-sized players like Chicago prospect AJ Spellacy, and Kings prospect Liam Greentree. Belchetz is a different player, with more offensive upside than both, but he can definitely get some guidance from them on how to navigate his draft season.
No. 5: Ryan Roobroeck, C, 6-foot-4, 216 pounds, Niagara IceDogs (OHL)
Has already set a high bar for himself, having put up 41 goals and 86 points in his draft minus-one season in the OHL. That production is made all the more impressive considering there’s been a lot of noise in the organization since the day he was drafted. With Frank Evola now running the ship, things will settle down this season. Evola brought in head coach Krys Barch who was a solid OHL producer with size and someone Roobroeck can take mentorship from. Another great late birthday player in this draft, Roobroeck’s final ranking will come down to how he progresses in non point-producing situations.

ParticipantMitch didn’t want to leave. Management and retards like you pushed him to leave. Enjoy the collapse of this team and the next rebuild as a result of your own retardation.
man, you are totally WRONG about this statement.
Marner was never going to re-sign with the Leafs.
But you do you.November 18, 2025 at 9:09 am #49631Fakepartofme
Participant23BigIQPoints as retarded as ever.

Nope, if mitch didnt want to leave he would have signed the $13m per year contract he was offered.
He was leaving no matter what, simply couldnt handle the pressure.
The collapse of this team, their failures and possible future rebuild in 2-3 years will have/has nothing to do with anyone on here. But keep up your idiotic grrrrr im angry at everything, even things that dont exist incel ways.

ParticipantHoly fuck can the Marner argument stop?
The guy wanted a $7.5 mill take home after taxes and in an Ontario that would cost around a $15 mill salary for a Canadian player. Ta-fucking-da.
If the leafs want to succeed under Berube’s it’s simple, grinding physical play that isn’t based on scoring is needed, not fancy offensive pretty play. So unless the whole team buys into it this won’t work. The end.

Ya gotta score to win though. Which they can do…the grinding physical defensive play…they cannot do.
The big guys they brought in, just arent effective at what they were brought in for. The guys they traded for, cant do what they were traded for. Tre really messed up.This was always going to be a transition year, they werent going to replace marner and build the team they want in one offseason. Which is why it was ridiculous to trade away our first for 2026. No one in the entire league was offering a 1st and top end prospect for Carlo at that time.
Look at what most top end teams do (the bruins did it last year), have a down year in the middle of going for it years, get some picks and higher end 1st rounder – replenish the cupboard….then get back on the playoff horse.
Its what the leafs should have done this year…..which they are doing….just with no thought or planning. Its just because they arent playing well.Honestly, I dont believe Tre is the right GM for the team (he’s burke 2.0) and we may not have to correct top end players for Berube style. Which means Berube may not get what we pay matthews for out of matthews..
Berube needs to alter and do a hybrid style.November 18, 2025 at 12:35 pm #49694Dozzer

Berube needs to alter and do a hybrid style. Not all teams need to score shit tons of goals. The Panthers were only 15th in the league last year for instance. Some teams are built around D and some around offence, the leafs went for physical play and D this year and it’s not working.
So either change
1: the game
2: the players who aren’t buying in
3: the coach
4: the gm who would likely change the coach as wellSitting still with no good picks in their hands would be a truly wasted year.

Do you think any of those guys will be available in the 3rd round when the Leafs get a pick?

ParticipantI’m having a tough time getting motivated to even watch this team play. For starters they suck but they’re playing such a boring ass style of game.
Hockeybuzz is toast. This site always screws up on my phone.

They have the wrong players for physical and to play D. They lost one of their best defensive forward and cant rely on others to make it up. Mainly because “others” choose not to do it. Its laziness.
1. The game isnt changing….Dubas tried to and failed miserably.
2. I dont think we have the right GM to change the players for the better. The trades he’s made so far havent been good.
3. I think the only thing we can do as leafs fans, is hope the MLB FA market kicks into gear in the next week or two, and hope the spring season starts real soon so we can forget about this team for a year or two.
4. Actually I think we have the Olympics….so that will be a nice break…and then spring season.Lets go Raptors? Meh basketball.

Leafs keep their 1st round pick in 2026 if it’s in the top 5. Which means, if the season ended today, they’d be drafting 5th overall with just under a .500 record. If they lose to the Blues, 4th overall.

Ok but I don’t see them finishing that low. They may not be very good but they’re better than they’ve been playing. There are too many guys with NMCs or NTCs to move out to tank properly.

lol I’m not a big fan of basketball but yeah I’ll still say go raptors 👍
And I get what you’re saying about Marner but there is still two things about him that didn’t fit with what the Tre/Berube wanted to do:
A: great defensively yes but not Berube’s physical style of D so no, he wouldn’t fit (a coaching error imo, just saying)
B: he wouldn’t fit this have cost $15 million to stay in Ontario to get his $7.5 mill take home. Why? Because he isn’t the only one making this choice, his wife, his dad, and other members of his family have a say in this as well, not just the hockey player. So anyone believing he’s offer a discount is a dreamer (sorry had to say that since there are a few here, not you, who want to believe that only Mitch makes the call here)Personally I only think that unless there’s something as dramatic as a coaching change to change the approach and get this team to get better this season won’t likely turn out that well, if a goalie catches absolute fire it might turn out different but the team just looks… lost.

I dont think marner was staying for any amount…maybe $15m plus…but hes not worth that.
I dont think he or willie or matthews fit Berubes style…maybe matthews a bit.Ya this team needs a goalie or two to catch fire.
Or finish in the bottom 5…so we keep our pick.
