If that’s the case, then why isn’t Fred Johnson doing something about it? He could make a statement or mention it in one of his Buzzcasts? It’s odd. Unless the perp has a way to block Ek from seeing what’s going on? You’d think someone had an avenue to correct this? Weird.
My best guess is it is a disgruntled (unpaid) employee trying to kill the site – best way to do that is to kill the Leafs’ thread.
But nobody knows.

Is this happening to other teams’ fans or is some ref just running around with a h*rdon for Leafs fans?

I wouldn’t sweat it on posting over there. Ek doesn’t respond to anything and there’s plenty of evidence of him not paying bloggers/not responding/having no money left. It’s likely why Metz and Augello left without some sort of delay.
Honestly? It took a long time but when a place starts being overrun by troll types and stuff like political talk it slowly degrades the place and more average people refuse to go back. There’s places like this, reddit, FB or a billion other social media platforms people can go and not be bombarded by ads or non-hockey talk. We can definitely build up this place to better than that.
Also, we can respect others views but I think some people have to cut it out on troll attempts on their own fan base and others have to not buy into it and respond.

Not sure who’s doing it, but mine came after a comment in the Chicago thread, regarding Conor Bedard. No warning, one month sabbatical. The idea that Chicago was sold a bill of goods for thinking Bedard was a generational talent. I spelled out why, then banned! It really was a hockey question.

Mr. Johnson (EK) deserves thanks for running the Buzz for the last 20 years. I’m not sure what caused it to degrade and then start allowing someone to ban a number of posters. We were told not to talk politics, yet he wrote a whole blog on Canada/U.S. relations and the tariff thing. He invited this to his doorstep. Sure, it had been going on for years among the posters, but it wanes over time. Other stuff not hockey related also filtered in. It would have been easier to put a political thread in a different spot on the site. He didn’t do that. Looking at it, it might be too late. He would be better off selling it, if he had a suitor. It’s time to move forward for the good of the fanbase.
I tried to get in 3 weeks ago, but it wouldn’t let me until May 1st. Before everyone else came in I had to think how ethical it would be to invite everyone over here. At the time, I just came off a month long ban for not much. I was able to use my alt account for that month, but you have to be super careful to not trigger a lifetime ban. At the time I thought it was unethical, but now having second thoughts, why sweat it? It’s time to talk to participants in other threads over there and see if they’d like to take a look. If the Habs fans decide to take a walk, the Buzz will be really in trouble. Do I relish what is happening? Not at all. It was a great place to talk hockey for the last 20 years. I have no idea what went down to get Mike and the Metz to leave. It seemed very peculiar and now we have a new outlet to try and build. I just hope that we can all realize that we sometimes went to far and insulted one another too many times. I’m hoping a reset gets everyone to respect other’s views. In reality, it’s a place to discuss the great game that we all love, Hockey. I hope the rest of you find the same peace and understanding that we are all different and we all have our own points of view. – Princy boy
