The penguins traded a D level prospect, Chase Stillman, and a 27 4th rounder to Vancouver for G, Arturs Silov.

“ Silovs is an athletic goalie with smooth lateral movement. Fresh off an AHL title & playoff MVP, he posted a 2.01 GAA & .931 SV%. Clutch performer—had a 28-save shutout in Game 6 to eliminate Nashville in his 2023 NHL playoff debut.” – Wyatt Leblanc

This move reminds me a little bit of the dumba trade in that we certainly have more moves to make for this to make 100% sense. Still, I do like the move given that there is starter potential in him, with some more runway to reach his ceiling.

Overall I’m pretty happy with this.

The goalies are no longer left out. Now we have too many players at every position.

Lmao true. But silovs seems like a young stud. The Vancouver people I know are not impressed and I’ve seen plenty trade proposals where he is the main piece, not a toss away for a 4th and a bum prospect. Seems like a good trade for us, and maybe good competition for murushov in the Ahl. As long as they get rid of the larson and Lindbergh haha. TBH they seem pretty damn stacked with potential at goalie in the future.

I like this deal. If we eat a little salary, I think Jarry is tradeable. 2 time all-star. The Pens have been mostly awful defensively for years. The Pens inability to keep the puck out of their own net wasn’t all “bad goal tending”. It was a team effort.

I agree this deal looks good for us on its own, but now we have Jarry and Silvos for the NHL, Blomqvist and Murashov for the AHL, but also Larsson and Gauthier … also for the AHL? So, presumably like at every other position, some trades are coming to resolve the overstocking of players.
