What’s up gentlemen? Brownsoldier sent me the invite over here (thanks) and I tried to register with my HB name, MattStrat, using my very first email (hotmail), because that is generally what I use for this kind of thing, but I would never ever get the confirmation email to set password. This site is now saying that MattStrat is a username already registered….so….I had to put “TheReal” in front of it and try a different email account. If a site admin here could help me get MattStrat going I would love that, if not, F it, life goes on.
EK banned me over on HB for 3 months because I posted this in comments to one of his main page stories “EK do you just want this site to die? Can you be straight up with long time faithful supporters of this place, such as me, about what’s going on?
I appreciate this place, and you having it here, but it’s sad to see it dying and it feels like it could be avoided…”
I had never been banned before. I think that’s a bit nuts to give me 3 months for that. I tried private messaging JBoyd, Vic and Tojo on HB to let them know what happened but I feel as though they never did get through.

A heads-up on your username issue… many of us using a Hotmail address had the same issue you’ve described.
In my case, I entered my (preferred) username and clicked the reset password button (did it several times over the course of a week or so). In my case, when it finally worked, I had to wait roughly 5 minutes for the reset confirmation e-mail to arrive, so for me it was just a matter of being patient.
There’s some more information about site issues and such in The Locker Room forum. If you’d care to post about your problem, Bill is usually really good about following up on any issues posted in The Locker Room.

Hey Matt. Glad to see some of us are making it over here. FYI… Jmatch DM’d me over there asking what happened with RW. I told him about the apparent dispute. Jmatchett responded that EK wasn’t paying his bills and that was the reason the site shut down for several weeks. About 10 minutes later he DM’d me again saying he’d been banned for almost 3 years. So Ek, reads everybody’s DM’s.
Anyway, I found this place thanks to Brownsoldier….via a DM. Hopefully more of us can find this place. I’m going to try to get more people over here with DM’s. Probably get banned.

From info on a couple of discord sites during the month long shut down, EK can’t/won’t pay the bloggers there. When they complain and leave, he erases their blogs and you get guest writers who are probably just EK himself. Assuming that’s what happened with Ryan.
Bill posted on the first page of this that they’re working on a Pens blogger…which is disappointing since the Bloggers link lists our old guy Brian as our blogger. Would love to have Brian back, his blogs were worth reading and enjoyable.

Maybe its just not being used to this new place/being at HB so long but I really did like the layout of HB much better. Each team’s newest blog in a square thumbnail on home page. HB never changed, or upgraded anything, over all my years there and this place is pretty new. So, it could change things for the better as it goes a long.

Wow jj peterka basically given away. Wtf is up with Buffalo and Anaheim just getting fleeced
I am not sure it was a TOTAL fleece job instead of just a bad reason to get rid of a good player by buffalo. When I initially saw who it was between (utah) I felt like the 4th overall pick was definitely involved. Surprisingly, it was not. Perhaps this means that They wont select Porter Martone and we can potentially trade with Nashville or someone in the 6-8 range? A new article that just came out from Scott Wheeler (draft guru guy) thinks Hagens could be available at the 5-7 range, which would obviously be easier to move up to than 4th.

Hey guys, I wanted to comment on HB and how surprised and disappointed I am in how that site was run into the ground. I was one of the refs there for many years, and I have to say I was so surprised and disappointed when Eric, Bill and Mike all left, the writing was on the wall. I also know that EK wasn’t paying the bloggers for extended periods which is still happening to this day.
Then out of the blue, posters were getting banned for absolutely ridiculous reasons like 3 months for a ????, then they started to get to multiple year bans, myself and Dozzer tried to get answers but our posts just got deleted, if he could have given us multiple months bans I’m sure he would have.
Today several more blogs have been deleted, guess it’s easier than paying the bloggers.But I will say I enjoyed the format of HB, and in the beginning decade there were some great bloggers, excluding Matt Berry and Cloutier.
Happy to see this site up and running and that there is a good group of bloggers, if only Bill could entice Carol Schram to blog for the Canucks it would be grand.

Anyone else feel like they got coal in their stocking with that 1rst round? I know it wasn’t a deep draft year, but damn.
I was more excited for this draft than I have been in a long time. Even did a lot of research and had 2 reasonable names that I really, really wanted at 11 and 12…McQueen and Aitcheson. Would have been the perfect 2 guys to start the rebuild and change the team’s pussyified no toughness, no balls Sully identity. Sucks we missed McQueen by a pick, but still could have had something we haven’t had in forever…a mean SOB beast of a Dman. Hurts twice as much that he went to the Isles, as well as Eklund who I’d rather have had than any of our picks. Instead from most reports, we reached 3 times and came away with a pair of 3rd line centers and a 3rd line wing.

As an in dependent website, paying our own boills and trying to create a place for you guys to come and be able to talk and discuss all sorts of hickey topics there never seems to be a right time to re-launch a new version…. I definitely wasn’t going to do it with the draft and free agency, because that is one of our busiest times of the year….
But the website is a mess and I have a whole bunch of new writers, many of whom have not even been posted yet on here because of how messed up the website is. Also, there have been blogs and comments disappearing, and people being banned for no reason at all. Along with other data issues, which affected many of you being able to login…..
The new website is really awesome, and I hope that 15-year-old hockeybuzz.com would survive until the site was ready and everything was hopping…. I fear that I asked too much of it.
We have three different teams working on this right now. One is trying to just fix all the database problems on the current site. Another is putting the finishing touches on the future site. And another that is developing a short-term solution that will be a temporary site without the bells and whistles, but will function properly and will enable everybody to post and us to launch new writers, etc.
The temporary site is coming in a few days here…. The full site will be here not that long after…
But at our core, we need to be a site that enables writers to write and readers to comment…
Again, I really appreciate the patience and I’m trying to answer all the emails I’ve gotten. If your season ticket got messed up, you’ll be automatically upped for an extra year.
I am not a coder nor am I a technical person, so it’s time for me to get back to rumors and why you come here, but I just wanted to make sure that you understood what is going on….

Not buying that. I commented for the first time in years on his main FA blog and said, “Remember when this place used to crash on deadline day, lol” and got banned an hour later.
