ParticipantSeptember has started. New York Rangers hockey, like the rest of the league, gets underway. What’s in store for the Blueshirts?

ParticipantNow THIS is the type of comment section all our transplants are looking for! Nice writeup Jan – excited to have Rangers hockey back soon. Hopefully a better outing this season!

ParticipantIt sure feels like this season is a “just make the playoffs and see what happens while you wait for a (hopefully) stacked UFA class next offseason” type of season

ParticipantWelcome back boys, nice to see you all.
As usual, taking blog suggestions.

ParticipantThis team will be lucky to make the playoffs. If Mika decides to play hockey its a different story. If he is stuck thinking about the wheels of steel, this team will go nowhere.

ParticipantHere’s hoping this is our new home for a while!
How the team will do? I have no idea at this point. Just hoping to watch some honest effort driven play on a regular basis.September 8, 2025 at 10:32 am #25792fish_hoofs
ParticipantSo good to be reading your posts Jan! So good and I missed it.
In terms of blog ideas… part of me would love something about when the point of no return is. As in, when should the rangers make moves if they feel “yeah… this core is crap”. If get a bad October, is November the time to make changes? If we start out strong like last year and then slide like a mad man… is it January or do we just hold till trade deadline? What should we be looking for as key indicators?

ParticipantAnother point I’ve been wanting to ask of the group, with the new CBA rules coming into effect now, am I understanding correctly that in order to move Panarin at the deadline, do we have to find a team to take on the entire $11.6M? That is the way the change was explained to me. Am I (hopefully) wrong???

ParticipantIt is my understanding that retention is still allowed, so we can keep half the cap hit. What is going away is the “double retention” where a third team is involved.

ParticipantYes, you are correct, as I understand it. But, I thought there was also a change to the way cap space is accrued and in that element, there is a change to how a team is able to take on contracts mid-season. I watched a video yesterday from The Hockey Guy and that was what I got from it. If we want to move Bread at the deadline, it’s the whole amount. I could be wrong, please speak up if I am!!
