This opening roster gives me concern. I don’t understand the sheary signing outside of Sully Nepotism. I like that it’s at least 2 way and can be buried if needed.
We haven’t talked about it much here but I’m so jealous of that Tampa/Florida game. That’s something this roster still can’t do. I’m hoping Miller helps toughen up some of these guys but if we make the playoffs, we’ll be bounced easily I fear.
Either way, let’s fucking do this!

Game 1. I am so happy we have hockey back. Really hope to see a full 60 minute effort.
I also don’t love the Sheary signing. But at league minimum and 2 way, it’s not the end of the world. He can provide some veteran leadership for the kids that are around and I do like him more than Raddyish who I think is useless. Hopefully Berard replaces him sooner than later.

Sullivan had said he wants to get Laf PP1 time and then this is what we get. Different coach same poop but with a worse PP2 than I’ve ever seen. Maybe by mid season this opening night roster will be funny to look at. All i can hope for is for the exact opposite of last season. lgr

The correct response to this game is to admit having 2 lines and 1 defenseman who can generate offense was dumb and to call up Perreault and morrow but that’s not going to happen
It’s only a matter of time til they call up Berard and Perrault because they clearly won’t have enough scoring with this bottom 6. They have two 4th lines essentially
Berard-Laba-Perrault would give us a collective woody i think
The 4th line should have Edstrom as a regular staple, and then pick two from game to game among: Carrick, Rempe, Raddysh, Parsinen and Sheary, JBrod.
Larry Brooks said it best on a podcast I saw, this roster is like an opening draft…it won’t last all season like this.
Let’s just be patient. It’s a new coach, system, new roles, etc

Yeah that wasnt great…team had zero emotion, the entire team looked like they were going through the motions. We should be able to get a 1st pick+ for Panarin at the deadline, so I guess there is that at least.
It’s like last year all over again. I have a feeling Drury will be gone if they look like this all season. Everyone talks about how Bill Zito created the whole Panther’s culture… Drury has killed NYR’s for the second damn time

Bill Zito is also working in a no tax state, it’s a tremendous advantage he has

The no tax state has be proven to be much less than what people think. Its winning that draws players to teams. Remember, Fla was terrible for 20 years before this resurgence. The no tax is only for half the games. The players must pay tax in every state they play in so realistically its just half the games they play. Zito built a culture in Fla. It’s ironic you say that because the reason he’s “destroyed” it is because they couldn’t beat Florida. They were dominated that series. Since then, for better or worse, he’s trying to get to that level. Ie-Miller in, Trouba out as an example. You guys just refuse to see this. They weren’t good enough then, and they still aren’t. But what can ya do except try. By your theory if he leaves the team status quo, last year and now, they beat Florida? How exactly? They weren’t good enough then and now they’re older.
And yes the no tax is a huge advantage, because if we sign Bennett, as an example, they have to give him 2 mill more a year then Ziti did. To make up for NO TAXES down there. It’s blatantly obvious I don’t what to tell you lol

I am definitely willing to give this team 20-25 games before I judge them completely. We are all worked up over the 1st game, but remember the 1st handful of games last year when we couldnt be beaten. We all thought we were in for a deep playoff run, and we saw how that turned out. Let’s let the team settle into the new system a bit. Theres also just no doubt that Miller (and Panarin to a lesser degree) are banged up and rusty being that they barely participated in training camp.
I also think they need to scratch Raddyish and put Berard in that spot. Raddyish is useless. Let the kid play and be a spark plug for the bottom 6

There are two moments that snowballed into this massive changeover (in leadership)
Losing to NJ up 2-0 in 22-23
Florida manhandling them in 23-34It said a lot about the leadership those two series. Trouba, Goodrow and Kreider were the fall guys. The coaches too obviously.
Listen, Drury is finally on my hot seat if it makes you feel any better Brukie lol he has no more excuses/rope with me. The whole reason I defend him is I see what he’s trying to do. At some point it’s on the damn players tho, which is a big reason he went and got Miller. They needed his kind of attitude. This year we’ll see what happens, if they miss playoffs Drury could be gone but it’s still possible it won’t happen since Sullivan just got here. They’ll probably give them both a clean slate in a sense

Yes the team needed a change but Drury went about it all wrong. The way this team played the other night reminded me how they ended the year. If the uninspired play continues, Drury is gone by Christmas.

idk what else he was supposed to do. You don’t buy it, but I think they sacrificed last season and just horrid for the best knowing that the leadership wasn’t going to be helpful in anyway. They were rudderless last year
He isn’t gone by Xmas lol they could be 0-50 something and he isn’t. End of the season maybe, but no way in hell does he get fired before that. GMs rarely get fired in season anyway
He gave those guys 3-4 years to get it done (goodrow, Trouba, etc) and they didnt get it done. So you move on. You act like Drury is the only GM who moves on from players.
And it’s one game. The two best players barely played in preseason, basically the engine (Miller and Panarin) of the team
