A look at the trade for the rotting corpse of Shea Weber(‘s contract):
    ————————————
    March 7th, 2025 (w/Utah)
    Hawks gave:
    2026 5th round pick

    Hawks received:
    Weber contract
    Victor Soderstrom
Aku Raty (went to play in Finland)
    ————————————-
    June 13th, 2025 (w/Boston)
    Hawks gave:
    Victor Soderstrom

    Hawks received:
    Ryan Mast
    2025 7th round pick
    ————————————
    June 28th, 2025 (w/Florida)
    Hawks gave:
    2025 7th round pick

    Hawks received:
    2026 7th round pick
    ————————————
    Overall the Hawks gave up:
1.25 million dollars (Weber contract is a $7.86mm cap hit, but only $1mm/year real money in ’24/25 and ’25/26 seasons. Approx. 0.25mm in ’24/25 and likely $1mm in ’25/26)
    2026 5th round pick

    Overall the Hawks received:
7.86 million dollar cap hit (may or may not need to roster the Weber contract depending on moves before the trade deadline)
    Ryan Mast (AHL D-man)
    2026 7th round pick

I cannot find a reason to be enthused or depressed over this group of moves.

I think the move saved Danny about $7M if nothing else. For a million bucks KD picked up $8M towards the floor.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully this site can pick up some more activity soon.
They may or may not need to use Weber, but it is certainly a cheap cap floor insurance policy.

I posted a roster projection here:

    Blackhawks and the cap floor

Capwages and Puckpedia are useful for viewing rosters/cap hits in-season, but somewhat wonky right now.
