ParticipantHi from across the sea,
thanks for the comment !
The game seems to be nice to watch and the big names were there on the scoreboard, a nice surprise but it is only one game, let’s wait for the other one.
If it goes on like this, it will be really difficult for Tod and Steve to choose between the young names to join Detroit, and that’s a good problem to have.
Danielson seems ready, so does MBN (though I’m not a big fan of power forwards, he can bring some points). ASP ?
Eager to watch tomorrow’s video ! Season is warming up.
Take care.September 14, 2025 at 1:14 pm #27416Jlaura76
ParticipantYour point is well taken. Because it’s one game and only against prospects it’s difficult to translate to how this would play out in the NHL. The biggest takeaway are the tendencies of the individual players. Buium’s reaction to a faceoff win that led to a goal. Sandin-Pellikka’s shot selections and decision making. MBN’s goal, he stopped up just inside the zone, moved the puck and repositioned for a return pass. Finnie has immense power in his game. Etc. many of the players have an offensive mindset and in this type of game a lot of their instincts are on display as opposed to systems that were developed. Then, how will they translate in camp against NHLers. Then preseason etc. so much fun to watch. Not too long ago the system was loaded with kids who didn’t shoot the puck. Clearly that’s not an issue now!

ParticipantHey, Jeremy ????
Last night was a revelation. We fans knew rhe future was good, but some names really jumped out last night. I only watched pieces n parts, unfortunately. But watching your re-cap and watching these kids….wow. GR is going to be a fun team to watch! Watson’s gonna have a seriously strong team….until the call-ups hit.
MBN was tough. Watched some of the game and saw him really assert himself down low, and his defensive stick-work was sublime. Kid has a gift. ASP looks a bit bigger this year. The way he moves to puck is almost zen-like. Seriously, his passing is incredible. But the big take away for me was Lombardi and Buium. We all rave over ASP, MBN, LMNOP (????), but those 2…..if either of them are called up, I’d not be surprised in the least to see them pull an Eddy and stay up. Buium’s bigger than I thought, and definitely more aggressive. Lombardi’s really got something special, a great mixture of talent and grit… and can pass like a Sailor on Shore Leave ????????.
Excited to see how tonight goes. I feel better now about the direction of this team, but we still need a NAME. THE guy who just takes the game over…..

ParticipantThanks Mike, glad to finally be back!
Unfortunately the Wings fell 6-5 tonight but it was awesome seeing live hockey since it has been more than a few years for me. I thought the Stars had more jump in the third for sure and the score sheet should show that.
Stand-outs for me tonight for overall play were Lombardie, Danielson, Buium, and to a lessor degree Kilfoil (has energy/drive but did not have a complete game like the others). Enjoyed watching the prospects (obviously my review skills are lacking) and there appears to be some talent still maturing before they are ready to be full time members of the big club.

ParticipantHey Jeremy, any idea why I cannot post, receiving a ‘awaiting moderation’ message? I created the account a few days ago and the first post I did on this thread was awaiting moderation but then the second and third posted. Now today I posted on you new story and that post is awaiting moderation? Very puzzling…

ParticipantBrother i am so happy that hockey is back! Sorry for the delay on response. Detroit has added so much offensive power into the system. The announce team continually mentioned the speed and skill. In 2019 that was not what was being said. To Yzerman’s credit, he’s added players that are getting a lot of buzz. ASP is incredible with the puck. His passing, shot selections, ability to recover. MBN, when he turns it on, makes some magic out there too. Finnie, Doucet, Lombardi, Danielson, Buium, Bantle. All guys that got my attention. KILFOIL’S backhand goal was unreal. So happy to see it back!
