ParticipantConcerning young D issues indeed, but is it the system or the players ? I’m not sure having a top 4 D (if it is ever possible now it is so expensive) will change the D system. NHL is punishing, a mistake = a goal, but if you can play following a good D system, with a lot of will, it should be enough. Look at the start of the season, it worked.
Maybe it is too demanding, and as the young ones are getting tired, they cannot follow it properly.
But I’m not sure a good D would bring better results. Unless they can bring a superstar like Lidstrom…November 17, 2025 at 6:44 pm #49542mcmastermike1968
ParticipantThis was absolutely abysmal to watch. I was stunned….and, frankly, pissed. There’s no excuse for this kind of collapse… Eddy played THE worst game of his NHL time. Watching him allow Thompson destroy The Cat….he should be embarrassed. We need D help. Not sure if Stetcher fell to us, but he would’ve been a decent get. JBD needs to have more ice time because Hamonic has shown his age….He can play ok at times. But he’s just not there anymore.
Thankfully, we pulled it off vs NYR. And the ‘brawl’ after the game was awesome. But again, in this game, we played like we CAN. The game management and consistency need to be worked on because it’s going to blow our chances at the SCPO. Good game. Nice come-back.

ParticipantWhat is there to say? Slow in the 1st (highest goal differential in the NHL in the 1st period), wild 2d – at least the PP clicked, collapse in the 3d.
We can’t continually come back from a deficit. We can’t hold a lead. CBJ swarmed the net for the tying goal, no one took a body and we looked like the Keystone Cops. Cost us the game and a point we need desperately.
Mo’s looking really good, and frankly needs to be in the Norris conversation. Chiarot’s playing his best hockey ever. But if we have to reply on Eddy and Chiarot (Mo’s a given perfirmer), we’re in really gad shape defensively. You can see there’s some form of team D scheme, but we don’t have the talent to execute it routinely.
If we want to make the SCPO, or even retain some levwl of respectability, we need to pull the trigger on a major move. Hughes should be the target. But there’s other names out there. Shake this team up.
This is getting embarrassing.
