ParticipantAs the New York Rangers prepare to face the Toronto Maple Leafs and hopefully break their goalless streak, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman dropped a lit

ParticipantSo, now 1 goal in what, three games? When do we start panicking? I’m worried Zib’s lack of scoring is going to effect his mental game again.

ParticipantSomeone commented in the NY Post that Coach is giving Zib, Laff, and others enough rope to hang themselves. Thought that was a decent take. I think we need to get healthy before hitting the panic button. Structure and commitment to defense is there, which is needed on a playoff team. AP looks out of place in this system. Zib flubbing and fox failing to breakup the 2-1 sent me back to “any day last season” for sure.

ParticipantHaving to watch Raddysh and Sheary over Perrault Berard Othmann etc is infuriating. Sullivan is a garbage re-tread coach that hasn’t won anything in a very long time and the only reason he ever won anything was bc he had generational talent in their prime. This season is going to be a disaster.

ParticipantWhile I agree that Perrault & Berard need to be up here playing over those two, I disagree with the last part. I think Sullivan has done a good job so far with the teams structure of play and overall team defense. Underlying numbers are strong. Pucks arent going in right now, but I think that will change. It’s way to early to say things like the season is going to be a disaster IMO. Remind me….where were the NYR 6 games into last season?
I am worried about Mika’s confidence, though.

ParticipantDoes this really surprise anyone?? The Rangers just cant develop anyone. Please dont say Igor because he developed in the KHL and came here when he was 24. This organization is a mess now.

ParticipantI agree with you that Sully hasnt won anything in years and had generational talent when he did but the Rangers as a team have played much better structurally and have created chances but truth be told this was a team where the core couldnt get it dont before and they are now older and cant seem to get it done now. Mika’s decline started years ago and Panarin isnt a 100 point player now. Drury made his trades but couldnt move off Mika and Panarin and this will be another failed season, failed because we arent winning a Cup this year and to me, thats all that matters!!

ParticipantThe Rangers have given up 6 goals in 6 games with a goalie on the ice. I would say that is head and shoulders above last season.
However, given that stat above, how are they 2-3-1?? Can’t really blame the goalies or defense. The offense is creating great chances, but just can’t finish. Part of it is luck. Some of those are bound to get in the net in the future. But the offense is definitely lacking elite talent.
Agreed small sample size. Let’s see how they are 20ish games into the season at the quarter mark. Last year they started with a great record but were obviously not playing great. This year a below average record but the eye test shows they are playing good. Frustrating for sure.
