ParticipantThese links pretty much sums it up but you can listen to Friedmans 32 thoughts from this week and at the 62 minute mark he goes into Tocchet vs Michkov.
As much as Bill has defended Tocchet in the past, Tocchet’s answer on Michkov at the carnival, a question he had to know was coming, was coocoo for cocopuffs and now this is becoming a national conversation.
Tocchet’s rambling answer was like a 4 year old explaining how the dog ate all the cookies and then was like “Did that answer your question?” No!
and of course, from a coach with a losing coaching record we now have a new meme “The Rules of Winning”, right up there with Culture.

yes its me 2050
ParticipantWould really love to know the thought process on hiring Tocchet. What in his resume suggest he is the answer or can get this team anywhere. Who was the main driver? What said yes he is our guy.

Multiple team sources have indicated that now, even months after his slow training-camp start, the Flyers believe Michkov still may not be able to do the things he needs to do from a physical standpoint — on a regular enough basis — to earn a larger role. Whereas last season he was routinely able to absorb hits along the wall or in scrums in the corner, and emerge from those scrums with the puck, for example, the thought is that he now struggles with that because his strength is lower than it should be.

Michkov get’s his minutes. Looks good. Spectacular pass leading to a goal. Flyers win.
The Flyers .. should .. take .. the win.
But no, another Michkov hit piece and Tocchet just wants the best for him from Kevin Kurz following DB’s talking points from the press conference.

ParticipantMatvei Michkov is back on the right side, and it appears it’s because of the Flyers front office
“Bobby leaving and then Mich wants to try it. We will see. I have my thoughts on that, but we will see how it goes,” Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet said yesterday.
I mean, from the looks of this, the Flyers front office had seemingly stepped in and told Tocchet to put Michkov back on the right side. Obviously, Tocchet It has reservations about such, and this is not the first time the front office has had to step in and tell him to either play the young kids, or the front office stepping in to cure a PR disaster about Michkov.
I’m guessing if Michkov sticks on the right side Bill’s head will explode because he’s spent a lot of time defending Tocchet putting Michkov on the left.
I will say, and the Flyers still absolutely lose that game without Vladar, that the lineup for the Penguin game was probably the best in terms of putting the players where they should be for development and evaluation all year. The kind of game you want to see from a rebuilding team.

ParticipantIt’s just funny to hear that choice of words, “Mich wants to try it.” Yeah no shit he “wants to try it.” That’s where he’s played his entire life and that’s where he’s been at his best, playing on the right as a left-handed player. Saying that Michkov wants to try playing where he’s always played is like saying that Shaquille O’Neal wants to try playing center, or Zack Wheeler wants to try pitching.
