ParticipantAfter a few days of training camp, one thing is clear: this year’s Chicago Blackhawks look very different under head coach Jeff Blashill compared to t

Participant3rd line looks like Slaggs and Mik with Dickinson. Foligno’s 37 years of age is likely going to be on the 4th line with Dachtor and Laffy.

ParticipantIt’ll be interesting to see how the bottom 2 lines develop.
Would it not be great if they form a 2B line in Moore, Reichel and Dach.
Many say the Blackhawks need someone to play with Bedard, i feel that if the Nazar line and maybe as time goes on the Moore line can produce points and be difficult to keep off the score sheet that will only open things up for Bedard and his line.

ParticipantThen you have whatever combination of Dickinson, Mikh, Foligno, Slaggert, Greene.
All of a sudden we have actual depth and guys you can bounce up and down the line up.

Greene will be playing in Rockford. Not sold that Kyle wants any of the young guys to start the year in Chicago. I think he’s already made up his mind he wants them all starting together in Rockford. Go to CapWages and look at the forward groups for Chicago and Rockford currently. Not one young forward on the Rockford roster is a free agent after this season. The Chicago roster has 5-6 forwards that’ll be free agents and most likely not coming back then Kyle can fill those voids at the TDL by moving young forwards up and sign a couple big name forwards in the summer, then backfill all those young forward spots in Rockford with the next wave of prospects like Kantserov, Vanacker, Spellacy, Pridham, Boisvert, Frondell, etc.
In 2-3 years, you’ll see lesser skilled players like Greene, Slaggert, and Dach be replaced by better younger guys and the group of old vets contracts (Teuvo, Bert, Barkovsky) will expire creating top 6-9 spots for said next wave of prospects. The plan is there to see on paper with an open mind.
I will say this about the current Chicago roster. I don’t see Reichel making it to opening day. They’ll trade him or release him. Then the new whipping boy will be Dachtor.

ParticipantYes, I noticed that a few times too, but I’d be shocked if Slaggert gets the nod on the third line over Foligno. Right now they’ve got about 8 guys battling for 6 bottom-six spots. I expect Blashill will shuffle those lines during the exhibition games. Like I mentioned in my article, it really comes down to how he wants to define the roles for each line. Appreciate your comment today!
