ParticipantI know that everyone says that The Game is the best hockey book ever written, but his sequel Home Game: Hockey Life in Canada is even better.

ParticipantI read this trade proposal for the Leafs
Leafs: E. Kane
Canucks: Domi, Jarnkrok and Cowen. To me this is such a very bad trade proposal.
no deal, no way unless Cowen is removed from the proposal, but still. So two months ago, Kane was worth a 4th round draft pick, and now somebody thinks they can flip him for Domi, Jarnkrok and Cowen?
I get that Domi and Jarnkrok can be viewed as salary dumps, but bish, please.

ParticipantWedgie, re: tickets
While this may be true, part of the issue is that there are so many on-line ticket re-sellers I have no idea which ones are legit or not.
Plus, if I wait until that time, I won’t make it to the game on time. Not everyone is a few subway stops awayAre scalpers around the arena even a thing? If they are, that is a whole nother problem. I have zero desire to interact with them.
Scalpers are very few and far between these days.
Every single price I quoted last year was straight from the Ticketmaster site – so even with their pirate fees, it’s still cheaper on Monday to Wednesday than if you bought them straight from MLSE.
I realize that you have to take a bit of a leap of faith, but as I demonstrated numerous times here, Wedgie is never wrong on anything, including cheap tickets Monday to Wednesday. And if worst comes to worst, you can always still watch the game at a sports bar downtown, which is still a better experience (albeit more expensive) than watching it alone at home.
See you at the Keg York Street, Aethsie.

ParticipantTicket prices are insane, I think I may just use the $ I usually use to hit some Leafs games and go to some jays playoff games or maybe go see the Leafs on the road.
Also to those who can’t help themselves and have to make sure they insert some political narrative into their reply to show everyone how smart they are kindly take that bullshit somewhere else. This comment is directed at both the people who think they need to comment about the right and the left by the way, I have zero interest in reading any of it on a hockey site.
Sigh.
I demonstrated a dozen times last year that ticket prices are not what people think – the premium markups for games on the secondary market died during COVID.
Any game Monday to Wednesday, as long as it isn’t the Habs, you can purchase tix for below what the season ticket holder bought them for. Just wait until 5:30 pm.
Upper bowls for $100 or less. Lower for $250 or less.
Much cheaper than gas/airfare and hotel at any away game.

ParticipantI bet there would be a change if the Federal and Provincial governments took away the Entertainment write-off provision. – Prince
You would instantly kill each and every Canadian team. None would be able to turn a profit.

ParticipantIt’s long overdue, a Maple Leafs ticket revolt. I’m tired of subsidizing 2/3rds of the NHL with Revenue Sharing. Let the southern teams dry up, whither and die. They already get all of the tax benefits and we still send them money to keep them operational. There should be a 3 year moratorium on Revenue Sharing. If you can’t make it, in 3 years, you’re franchise is relocated or folded. Enough of this sh!t!
Except Leafs ticket prices would be completely unaffected if they eliminated revenue sharing.
Ticket prices are not tied to costs – it’s simply supply and demand.
I hate that the price I pay for tickets partially funds weaker clubs, but if revenue sharing was eliminated, MLSE wouldn’t lower ticket prices – they would simply make more profit.
Having said that, I would like to see the NHL adopt a soft cap like MLB – I strongly believe that baseball benefits financially by having big market teams have a slight advantage.
You either love the Yankees or you hate the Yankees, but either way, you are paying attention to them.

ParticipantSometimes, the blogs would be pretty decent. Meltzer comes to mind. Even Engels had his moments. The rest of them regurgitated stuff, were there to practice writing, or were just trolls.
Not once do I ever recall going to Hockeybuzz for news or for an “insider” opinion. It was 100% about the forums.

Jeepers creepers, I can’t believe I’m defending Ek and his stable of bloggers, but here goes:
Hockeybuzz was a stepping stone for more than a few bloggers to go on to respectable writing gigs.
