I love Werenski. He was a norris candidate last year and I still think he is underrated and doesn’t get the respect he deserves. I would do that trade in a second, especially because we have Augustine down the pipeline and Gibson is showing signs of a career resurgence so he isn’t going anywhere. In the back of my mind though I am scared Trey will go to free agency. If Yzerman trades Cossa, he has to sign Augustine.

Good article Jeremy. It sure is fun to dream/wish a trade would happen. If the Red Wings don’t make any changes I think they are capable of making the playoffs with the group that they have, but they would probably be an easy out in the first round. If they do make a move and acquire, let’s say a significant forward and a defenseman, they would be contenders to get past the first round, and from there anything can happen. Lets hope our olympians can come back without any significant injuries and then Yzerman can really make a push for some of these players.

I wouldn’t go near Petterson unless Vancouver eats some of that contract, but that would also drive up the price. Kadri would be good, might compliment Kane and Cat but he tends to take a lot of penalties and Detroit struggles on the PK. I would love to get both Faulk and Soucy. Man, it’s a fun time of year to dream even if it doesn’t end up coming to fruition.

I thought last year was Kaspers final year of being waiver exempt. Am I wrong? If they tried to send him down he would definitely get claimed.

Man I would love to see Werenski in red and white. I laugh thinking about the time when Larkin bought tickets for Zach’s parents to come to the game and then they ended up dropping the gloves with each other.

I totally agree with you about Hamonic. The best place for him is in the press box. He can be a depth defenseman if multiple injuries occur. I would even pull a couple guys up from GR before playing him anymore.

Thanks for another enjoyable read Jeremey. I did not get to watch the last game because I live in western Canada and it was not televised here. I was curious to where McLellan played Danielson in the line up? I was hoping it would be with Kane and Debrincat, then move Kasper up to the wing with Larkin and Raymond, and Finney down to center the third line. He probably didn’t want to shake up the lines this much, but I was hoping he would. How did Danielson look in the game?

Larkin, Kane, and Debrincat are all playing great. Mo is solid as always and has shown signs of continued growth. But really what is making the games so fun to watch is the kids. They play with such energy and enthusiasm, and you can see it rubbing off on the rest of the team. Charot is playing much better this year and I think it’s because of the kids. Gibson tracks the puck very well and has excellent rebound control. He can calm a game down when his team gets scrambling defensively.

I think my favorite player so far this season has been Edvinson. He has looked so steady and has given ASP the confidence to play the way he has and not be scared of making mistakes. Chelios used to have that effect on young players, but Eddie is doing this while still a kid himself.

The only player that is frustrating me on a consistent basis is Compher. Plays seem to die when he gets the puck. Hopefully he can get going.

I can’t help but be excited for this team this season. Even if they don’t make the playoffs they are going to be exciting to watch. They should be improved at goaltending with Gibson. I feel their defense will be better this year simply by not having Gus and Holl there. Addition by subtraction. I am also really excited to see the youngsters in regular season action. I can’t wait for this season to start.
